Several countries are ramping up efforts to evacuate their nationals from Lebanon and urging those remaining to leave amid the escalating situation as Israel wages a ground offensive in the south of the country.

While no country has launched a large-scale military evacuation yet, some governments have organized charter flights and others have helped secure seats on commercial flights out of Lebanon, with many looking to Cyprus and Turkey as transit points.

Here’s a look at what some countries have done:

  • United States: Dozens of US troops have been deployed to Cyprus in preparation for a range of contingencies including evacuating US citizens from Lebanon should a full-blown war erupt, US officials told CNN. Since August, the US has urged its nationals to leave Lebanon immediately.
  • United Kingdom: In preparation for a possible evacuation of UK nationals from Lebanon, about 700 extra troops have been deployed to Cyprus, where the British military already has several hundred military personnel stationed at two bases. It also has two warships in the region and organized a charter flight from Lebanon’s capital Beirut Wednesday for nationals and their dependents.
  • France: A French army spokesperson said Tuesday a helicopter carrier will arrive in the eastern Mediterranean in case Paris decides to evacuate its nationals from Lebanon, Reuters reported. Its contingency plans center on Cyprus and Beirut airport, while it is also discussing evacuations via Turkey, the news agency said.
  • Australia: An additional 500 seats have been secured for Australians, permanent residents and their family members on commercial flights departing Saturday for Cyprus, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said Thursday, after seats on several flights were organized earlier this week. An Australian Defence Force aircraft has been positioned in Cyprus to aid with contingency arrangements.
  • China: More than 200 Chinese nationals have been evacuated from Lebanon, including about 80 people on a ship that arrived in Cyprus on Tuesday, according to state-run news agency Xinhua. More than 140 Chinese citizens and their families were on a chartered flight that arrived in Beijing on Wednesday, Xinhua added.
  • Canada: Ottawa announced earlier this week it had secured an additional 800 seats on commercial flights leaving Lebanon for Canadians and their families. The country’s global affairs minister told CNN affiliate CBC News that if an evacuation becomes necessary, Canada has agreements with Cyprus, Greece and Turkey, and is working with the US, Australia and France to “make sure we adapt our evacuation plans together.”
  • Spain, the Netherlands, South Korea and several other countries are deploying military aircraft to Lebanon to bring home their nationals.

I was referring to tactical success.

Honestly, there should be a clear standard if people are truly being honest about their views and following humanity.

What I’ve observed is that some celebrated when Hamas killed Israelis last year, but those same individuals were quick to criticize Israel when it retaliated against Hamas. During that time, many innocent Palestinians were also killed by Israel.

Ideally, people should have condemned the killing of innocent Israelis, and then also condemned the killing of innocent Palestinians by Israel. However, that balanced criticism never seemed to happen here

What has been happening between Israel and Palestine shows that attacking innocent Israeli civilians has never been a solution. The relationship between these two sides has been marred by a series of blunders and miscalculations made by both parties over the years. The critical difference, however, is that Israel has benefited because it has won the wars.

Despite this, there is broad agreement that Palestinians deserve their rights and should have an independent state of their own.
False equivalence

Palestinians did not ask for occupation and apartheid to be forced upon them

They did not ask for Jews to come to the middle east

It's a natural right for a occupied people to fight their occupier

Israeli however chose to oppress the Palestinians, to declare a ethnocentric colonial state upon a land that already was inhabited

We can discuss the methods of resistance, but not that resistance is inevitable and essential and a natural right

Hope Hezbollah maintains a moral high ground and treats dead Israeli soldiers with respect.

One does not need to stoop down to the level of Zionists with no morals.

Looks like Hezbollah has got the IDF where it wants and restored some sort of parity in this battle.

Seems like the Arabs have realised they could be next from imperialist designs and have been fooled all along. We are on the precipe of a full blown attack on Islam and Mecca and it is time the Muslim world woke up and did something about it. After Iran Pakistan will easily be toppled by economic strangualtion and the Muslims all around the globe will be vulnerable. End Nazi Israel now must be the global goal, no ceasefire but dismantling of the Nazi apartheid Israeli regime.

It's SHOCKING the Arabs spent trillions buying crap from the west and developed next to nothing themselves

Now they have nothing but western weapons that probably have kill switches and downgrades to keep them useless

Iran is one of the strongest countries in the region with a massive ballistic missile arsenal and serious capacity to attack any country in the region. Everybody can see it.

I have not counted impacts and such.
I will wait for a professional analysis if any.
Irans been preparing since the Iraq invasion to fight the US so their stock pile will be huge. I am curious on how accurate the BMs will be, also their other missile arsenal. I suspect for US bases closer to them they could use drones and cruise missiles.

It is just to avoid iranian damage assessment confirmation.
There, fixed it for you.
Nothing more.
Alot more.
I think the iranian nuclear plants will soon see that israeli air force is in a perfect shape.
Ok, by what date can we expect this Israeli air attack on Iran's nuclear facilities? I want to keep track. thanks.

The Israeli army demonstrated the use of UH-60A Yanshuf 3 helicopters and CH-53K King Stallion helicopters to evacuate the wounded. Both helicopters are American-made. In the video, the 669th Air Rescue and Evacuation Unit evacuates wounded soldiers from Lebanon. Initially, the unit rescued downed pilots behind the front line, but gradually the tasks expanded to evacuate soldiers. Let me remind you that Merkava Mk.IV tanks are currently on the border with Lebanon, and they may have already entered the adjacent territory.

if you watch the sole interceptor missile here, you can see at around 8 seconds in it just gives up and self implodes lol

That's cause its really smart and it saw that all those missiles were not going to hit anything!/s 😁
The pictures show the limitations of ballistic missiles versus precision guided munitions that can hit targets more precisely. Iran needs to rethink its offensive strategy. If you consider how many missiles hit that bases versus damage - it is not as good a story as it should be.

The ballistic missiles will work a lot lot better on power plants, oil refineries and industrial centres that Israel has as those sites are much larger by their nature.

To be fair- taking out an airfield is massively difficult anyway!
Its impossible to assess the degree of damage when you are only shown one satellite image of the transport aircraft depot of the entire airbase. lets see if we get any pictures from the F-35 squadron hangers to see what Iran actually hit!

I've said it before, killing commanders literally doesn't matter. They're replaced quicker than you can make a roti.

Hezbullah's commander structure has proven to be the most flexible of any militant organization. They function more like a professional army with a militant command structure than another existing militant group.

Begone schlomo! Anyone participating in the "IDF" should not be considered a human they are complicit in shooting children in the head. If they are still fighting in defense of shooting children, aid workers, women on purpose they need to be treated as the trash they are.

Do you really expect us to believe Iran was aiming all their missiles at the Transport hub of the base? Lets see if similar quality satellite images will ever be provided showing the Fighter squadron hangers on the base.

When Israel is flying out its injured soldiers after being annihilated by hezbolah Lebanon the resistance to target those helicopters surely the resistance has shoulder, fired heat seeking missiles in the form of the Russian Igla ?
Not that easy. Evac sites tend to be heavily fortified, and wounded and dead are usually transported a safe distance in occupied friendly areas before helicopters are called in for rescue and transport.
