Is it true that Iranian customs can ask passengers to give them their phone and the pin codes to take a look at social media activities and search history?

You can't access the social media and history by pin code.
To fight trafficking foreign phone will not activate in Iran network
I don't knew about now but previously they were asking traveller's phone imei to register the phone in Iran network.

By the way I think it's USA that custum can demand your password for social media and pens and refuse your entry if you don't provide thrm

They can check. And they have people that monitor social media. I have heard about people visiting getting arrested because they participated in woman life freedom demonstrations. They are probably even monitoring this forum. But this isn’t something exclusive to Iran. I think most countries in the west do this. U.S especially is very strict about these matters.

No, but they can ask you to give them your phone and password. From there they can check your social media accounts, pictures etc.
