I do wonder how many of the systems and electronics being developed for the F4 variant will be part of Tempest/GCAP for Mk1 until the full software for Tempest has been developed. Given the modular nature of modern avionics, i can see the platform and the avionics being decoupled(like the JF17 programme) and treating them seperately to de-risk the entire programme. The software of F4 variant could be use to boot strap the initial variants of Tempest for the RAF while the overall platform comes on line.

Speculation on my part, but the ECRS Mk.2 AESA, with the Large display and avionics core of the F4 Typhoon would in itself be a potent asset aswell.

Green light for Eurofighter from Germany


Germany had previously obstructed the acquisition of Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets for the Turkish Air Force, has now allowed the commencement of technical discussions. A technical delegation from the UK, Italy, Spain, and Germany has arrived in Turkiye. The talks are expected to last for three weeks.

The obstacle posed by Germany regarding Turkey's request to procure 24 Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets, produced in consortium with four European countries, is being removed. It has been learned that the German government has approved the start of technical discussions regarding the sale of Eurofighter Typhoon.

24 FIGHTER JETS TO BE ACQUIRED IN THE FIRST PHASE​

According to information reported by NTV, if Germany gives final approval for the sale after the technical discussions, Turkiye will acquire 24 Eurofighter fighter jets as soon as possible in the first phase. In later stages of the process, this number will be completed to 40.

With the procurement of Eurofighter fighter jets, the Turkish Air Force will have aircraft equipped with AESA radar for the first time. Experts emphasize that Eurofighter will be the most suitable solution during the interim period until the entry of the national fighter jet KAAN and the F-16 Block 70 fighter jets into the inventory.

I'm not sure. A media outlet is reporting that Germany wants to add some strings to the package. Apparently, one limitation would be to not use the planes over the Aegean Sea or close to the Greek airspace.

Of course, the Turks won't accept this condition.

They won't make it easy. There are always strings and conditions attached.

J10C is nowhere near the capability of Eurofighter Typhoon, J10C is light-medium weight jet whereas Eurofighter Typhoon sit in the category of medium-heavy class

Nope nice try. Western and both Russian, Chinese standards are different so technically Turkey needs to change at least half of its logistics and maintenance structure to be able to operate J10's or Russian planes. And that's impossible. it will take Turkey min 3-4 years to establish a decent maintenance structure and educate teams while maintaining existing planes. Politically it can be done but logically and operationally not.
