Israel’s Genocide in Gaza | 2023- till present

According to an initial investigation of the drone strike near Binyamina, Hezbollah launched two drones that entered Israeli airspace from the sea, The Times of Israel has learned. They were Mirsad drones, known in Iran as the Ababil-T. The model is Hezbollah’s main suicide drone.

According to the Alma Center, an Israeli research institute focused on security challenges in the north, the drone has “a 120-kilometer assault range, a top speed of 370 kilometers per hour, the capacity to carry up to 40 kilograms of explosives, and the ability to fly at altitudes of up to 3,000 meters.”

Both were tracked by Israeli radars, and one was shot down off the coast north of Haifa. Sirens sounded in the western Galilee area.

IAF planes and helicopters pursued the second, but it dropped off the radar and Israeli forces lost track of it, likely because it flew very close to the ground. No siren sounded because the assumption was that it had crashed or been intercepted once it disappeared.

The drone ended up striking near Binyamina, injuring almost 70

Drones are the future of warfare.

Four Israeli soldiers killed and more than 60 injured in drone attack

Four soldiers have been killed and more than 60 other people injured in a drone strike targeting an army base in northern Israel, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has said.

The IDF added seven soldiers had been severely injured in the attack on a base "adjacent to Binyamina" - a town around 20 miles (33km) to the south of Haifa.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack, which it said targeted a training camp of the Israeli Defence Forces' (IDF) Golani Brigade in the area, which is based between Tel Aviv and Haifa.

The armed group's media office said the strike was in response to Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and Beirut on Thursday.

The group said it targeted the camp in northern Israel using a "swarm of drones".

The Israeli ambulance service, Magen David Adom (MDA), said 61 people had been injured in the attack - including three critically. It added 37 of them had been taken to eight regional hospitals, either by ambulance or helicopter.

In a statement before the IDF confirmed the deaths, MDA said that alongside the three critically injured, 18 of the victims were in a moderate condition, 31 sustained mild injuries and nine people were "suffering anxiety".

The reason for the discrepancy in the number of critical injuries between MDA and the IDF is not clear.

Israeli censorship rules prevent media outlets saying exactly where or what was targeted, but some media outlets say the location was hit by a low-level drone launched from Lebanon - a relatively unsophisticated weapon that appears not to have activated early warning alarms.

Footage carried by Israeli media showed those wounded being helped into emergency vehicles, including helicopters.

Many of the wounded have been evacuated to Hillel Yaffe Medical Centre in nearby Hadera - with others being taken to hospitals in Tel Hashomer, Haifa, Afula and Netanya.

Details are still scarce but many of the injured appear to have been in a communal canteen at the time and were caught completely by surprise. Images circulating on social media appear to show an empty mess hall with a hole in the roof.

This is a really embarrassing and a major loss for Israel. Even the Americans who advice Israel have not been able to find any solution to the drone problem.

It is important to note that those 60 killed and injured by Hizbollah drone attack, are MILLITARY PERSONELL and NOT CIVILLIANS.

A low tech swarm of drones did this amount of damage. Just mind-boggling. Not even expensive missiles in their hundreds have been able to penetrate this deep and cause so much damage. The element of surprise is so important. Small drones are extremely difficult to pick. Especially when hugging the terrain. The drones are going to frustrate Israel badly.

There is something to be learnt here. Countries are going to be investing in an army of cheap drones.

It was not swarm. 1-4 light drones
Exact number unknown

If you can make drones both small and agile, then its very hard to distinguish them from sorrounding elements. They could even be mistaken for being birds.

When operating in swarms but still with individual autonomy, its a deadly combo, very hard to defeat. Especially in rugged terrain as you said.

Incredible. You can have all the military might in the world. Something as primitive as a suicide drone can bypass all the sophisticated radar/detection systems and cause so much damage. Genius.

The BBC report claims a swarm.

If this was just 1-4 that is even more mind-boggling. Imagine the damage if it had been a swarm....

BBC is incorrect here.

An Israel source mentioned they used the drone with a rocket barrage which confused us. Just one unofficial source

Mind-boggling. Just 1-4 🫢 For a country like Israel that claims to have the best sensors, radars and detection systems...

This isn't the first time either. The Israelis and Americans don't have an answer.
