Who paid it and who made it?

Must someone else TEİ and government of Turkiye.

Who will do the task of converting the TS-1400 engine from turboshaft to turboprop? TEI cannot do it, because TEI has currently devoted all its human resources to the TF-6000/10000 project. The TF-35000 project is coming right after. In fact, all qualified mechanical engineers in Turkey have been devoted to the UTKU/BATU and TF-35000 projects.

The Turkish government cannot provide the money, because there is no money! All the money has been transferred to the mass production of air defense missiles and cruise&ballistic missiles.

Therefore, I ask, who will do this conversion task and who will pay for it?

The only solution that comes to my mind is that Baykar will pay for it and have this task done in countries such as Pakistan or Malaysia, which have cheap labor and are also our allies.

It is impossible to produce engines in another country.

TEI or Baykar can do it.

Baykar can produce the engine for Kızılelma within four years. They can also produce the engine for Akıncı 2.

As far as I know, Baykar has invested more than 1 billion dollars in the engine business.

Who's talking about producing? I'm talking about converting the engine. A one-time engineering study. Of course, we will produce the converted engine.

I think TEI is probably going to do it with Govt funding, They probably got some sort of message from the govt to develop it, Bayraktar does not need to have it developed, if they really wanted to do it, they can buy off the shelf engines from Pratt and Whitney, but he specifically brought up the engine being Turkish, so it leads me to believe its a govt initiative to have a fully indigenous medium/heavy weight drone or other aircraft that will be produced in numbers like the Hurkus 2 perhaps, but lets see.

In terms for investment its quite a good investment, b/c the same engine with not too significant work, you double the amount of platforms you can put this on and increase revenue streams.

the TS1400 turned into a Turboprob can go on drones like the Akinci XL(Approximately 2500-3000kg payload), this will allow the Akinci to be powerful enough to launch Air Launched Ballistic Missiles like the ROCKS(estimated 1500kg) or a KHAN/Bora missile(2500kg). you can employ it for electoric warfare and AEW&C with more powerful radar and sensors.

you can create a TB4 perhaps with a single engine configuration which has its own advantages, as thats basically an MQ-9 type class single engine drone, without the need for a wide wing area to accommodate the dual engine configuration(easier for a heavier drone on limited spaces like ships.

You can reuse the engine on the Hurkus 2, as thats the same class engine as the PT6-A that the Hurkus is currently using. Thats a basic trainer and a COIN/Close Air Support aircraft purely sourcing from Turkish resources, great market for this in Africa.

then there is the civilian market potentially as well.

All of this from a modification of an existing turboshaft to a turboprop, a modification thats quite common in the industry.

It is a good investment, no doubt about it. First of all, you gain operational independence. Financial gains are another benefit of this investment.

As I said before, the our problems is financing and supply of qualified labor. Let Baykar pay and you Pakistanis convert the TEI TS-1400 engine from turboshaft to turboprop. You gain money and experience and we will have a turboprop engine.

What do you guys think? will we see this thing driving around before New Years? lol

This honestly seems ahead of schedule, I was expecting the engine and transmission to take longer, but we are seeing integration 1 year after we saw the korean powerpack integration. Of course its a little bit different in that the Korean Powerpack has been tested a lot longer before it was integrated on Altay, with tests on the K2 prototypes, but its still a significant achievement.

After they finish with the Altay I do hope they indigenize the Kaplan next. Create a Yeni Kaplan, with indigenous BMC powerpack and MKEK Gun to replace the cummings powerpack and Cockerill 105mm gun. Those are likely to be embargoed in any tension.

Kenger emphasized that they increased the production capacity of the facility and said, “We have increased our capacity since last year and now we have a production capacity of more than 500 engines per year. I can say that we are not far from four-digit production figures.”

reaching 1000+ engines a year is no small feat.
 
As far as I know, the number is more than 800. I don't expect this number to reach 4-digit figures very soon because the company is currently focused on building the infrastructure. However, I am sure that they will be able to produce the mentioned number of engines by 2026.

800 amount of engines are for Turkish Armed Forces, from Atmaca, Barbaros Coastal defence, SOM missile, Kara Atmaca and Cakir missiles. He told that they are going to export to 2 countries so 1000+ seems possible.
