Green light for Eurofighter from Germany for the Turkish Air Force

Plus, F35 is getting new generation APG-85 before Typhoon gets ECRS mk2.

Eurofighters already gets ECRS MK-II Radar

The radar will be integrated into at least 40 aircraft, with potential for up to 160 aircraft depending on decisions by the UK and Germany.

United Kingdom

  • 40 radars are on order for the modernisation of the Tranche 3 aircraft.
  • Potential order for Tranche 2 aircraft could include up to 67 additional radars.

Germany

  • The German Air Force is discussing a shift from the Mk1 variant to the Mk2 for the 15 (up to 30) Eurofighter ECR, which might involve new or existing aircraft.
  • Discussions are also underway to shift from the Mk1 variant to the Mk2 for the Tranche 4 “Quadriga.”

Germany may dump their inferior Mk1 radar that they co-developed with the Spanish and go for the far superior Mk2 which will be the most advanced radar in the world when it comes into service.

Turkish Armed Forces can detect stealth F-35 from 120+ km away

My source from retired Air Pilot Major General and Mechanical Engineer

According to their analyzes
The most appropriate radar frequency for detecting the F-35A fighter jet is calculated between 1.5 GHz and 2 GHz

The smallest value corresponding to the L Band 1.5÷2GHz frequency, that is, the RCS that will give the lowest distance, was taken as 0.011m2.

The longest range detection range of the F-35A's L band adversarial radar, which is in the 1.5 ̴2 GHz range

-- Russian NEBO-M Radar can detect F-35 from 155 km ... ( estimated )
-- Italian RAT-31DL Radar can detect F-35 from 123 km ... ( estimated )
-- American AN/FPS-117 Radar can detect F-35 from 120+ km ... ( estimated )
-- American Boing E-7T AEWC can detect F-35 from 113 km ... ( estimated )

Turkish Air Force has AN/FPS-117 , RAT-31DL Radars and Boeing E-7T AEWC

and Turkish Aselsan ALP-300G S band AESA early warning radar can detect F-35 from long distance and can guide 150 km SIPER air defense missiles on the F-35s

The UK built the US's EW system for F-35 and BAe is one of the largest military companies in the world by revenue due to huge sales in US and lots to rich Gulfies like KSA.

It simply used its knowledge and experience from building the F-35 EW system to design an even better one. US taxpayer paid for BAe to gain this knowledge.

Leonardo already built the AESA radar for Gripen E and also the current one that is used in Qatar Typhoons and so has plenty of experience to build a better radar than that on the current F-35 that is now a decade old.
Eurofighter EW suite = EuroDASS / Pratorian

F-35 EW suite = AN/ASQ-239

You can see the pictures, right? So which is better? AN/ASQ-239 is much better.

BAE develops EW systems for American jet fighters with American input.
BAE has a manufacturing plant in Texas.

What are the credentials of Leonardo in developing radar systems in comparison to Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grunman? Leonarda did not develop AN/APG-81 radar system but Lockheed Martin. And let me tell you something - Lockheed Martin has developed world's largest and most advanced radar systems. Leonardo is an amateur in comparison.

Member MMM-E don't know what he is taking about.
Claims in this thread are ridiculous by the hour.

British armed forces are a joke in comparison to American armed forces with numerous breakdowns and failures.

You dont know what you are talking about

Dont compare Praetorian DASS 1990s technology on Eurofighter with the new ECRS MK-II AESA Radar which provide cutting edge electronic warfare capabilities

Eurofighter Tranche 5 variant is coming with the latest technologies including new AESA Radar and new EW technology

More ridiculous JOKES from this guy.

F-35 is VLO in L band for your kind information.

We will see what about the F-35 against British
So what? He is wrong or feeding you nonsense because you post in a public forum. No real expert will want to risk leak of sensitive information.

BAE systems develop EW systems for those aircraft with American input. How many times this is to be repeated to you? The most powerful American EW platforms are American exclusive. But how would you know? You certainly don't know what you are talking about.

Learn about military before posting something

I am talking about the latest technologies like British ECRS MK-II AESA Radar which provide cutting edge electronic warfare capabilities

Turkish Aselsan BURFIS AESA Radar for the KAAN Fighter Jet also latest technology

Integrated RF System (BÜRFİS), an AESA-based radar suitable for 5th generation aircraft structure and avionics which is an important position among today's new gen radar systems where IFF, Electronic Warfare and Radar systems are designed as a whole

You need to understand the difference between EW suite and radar system. First and foremost.

You need to understand Its not just a Radar System

Its Integrated System where IFF, Electronic Warfare and AESA Radar systems are designed as a whole

as like British ECRS MK-II AESA Radar which provide cutting edge electronic warfare capabilities

KAAN Fighter Jet also will have same technology

Yes but BAe developed the EW suite for F-35 and are developing a new one for Typhoon, built using their experience developing Pratorian DASS & AN/ASQ-239. There is some US technology in there but BAe gained a lot of experience building their own and combining the different elements into one package.

F-35 is a decade newer than original Typhoon and so of course it will be better.

Not sure what the debate is here as of course the next generation Typhoon will at least temporarily have better radar and avionics than current version of F-35. It will also have similar "sensor fusion" as F-35.

Oh dear... what is so special in it? AN/APG-81 was created in the early 2000s and have all those capabilities. This is why I say that British are catching up.

British gave AN/ASQ-239 EW Suite technology to USA for the F-35s

and you are still saying that British are catching up

go and develop similar technology and come to say anything about British technology which created all the systems in a tiny structure

British BAE Systems' AN/ALQ-250 (EPAWSS) for the F-15EX
BAE Systems protects US Air Force F-15EX , F-22 , F-35s with digital electronic warfare technology

BAE Systems is the world leader in EW technology
and Thanks to BAE Systems for helping Turkish ASELSAN to develop SPEWS-II EW Suite for CCIP modernized F-16Cs

now Turkish ASELSAN develops superior FEWS EW suite for the KAAN Fighter Jet
