TF-X / KAAN / Hürjet Turkish Fighter & Trainer Aircrafts News & Discussions

Türkiye made the F-35 center fuselage, so it must have made the parts where the gun went. Will the T-FX also feature a gun in the same spot?

This is how you would deal with scenarios where you do need a gun.

For scenarios with short range combat, you are better off carrying more sidewinders than any gun. far better weight usage.

RAM from a private company in Turkiye.

ferromagnetic particles in a polymer matrix to absorb radar waves, but could this lead to increased IR signature? Hopefully they are also working on a way to dissipate the heat. From the auto-translate it seems he does address it. Can some one confirm he mentions that it reduces RCS and dissipates heat as well?

Btw, considering their 20 years of experience, hopefully they can develop a RAM paint for the JF-17 to do a “Have Glass” Style RCS reduction. Have Glass 5 reduced the F-16’s RCS by approx. 76% from 5m^2 down to 1.2 m^2. The metallic sheen also looks bad@ss.

I doubt these high end jets would be used in CAS, or air strikes below 12,000 feet. Hopefully the KAAN (and a future version of the J-35) have side bays large enough for two WVR missiles each, so the need for a gun is mitigated.

Wingman Stealth drone will likely be the solution

While their systems are now relatively outdated now - Block-52s have trouble picking up the JF-17 until it’s in range and locking them up for a SD-10 shot.

YES stealth Drones are coming for future tactical air combat

MURAD AESA Radar will allow the KIZILELMA to fire 100+ km GOKDOGAN air to air Missiles which will be carried in internal weapon bays for stealth flight capability

Also TAI develops ANKA-4 unmanned stealth Fighter Jet
networked environment to deliver full data-to-decision (D2D) capability together with the KAAN Fighter Jet for 6th gen war concept

Even ANKA-3 will be equipped with MURAD AESA Radar to fire air to air Missiles from internal weapon bays

For example
2 ANKA-4 unmanned stealth Fighter Jets will escort the KAAN Fighter Jet to provide extra 8 air to air Missiles

While true, the JF-17 program has no choice but to aim higher. The likely opposition will be equipped with more modern equipment and RAM coating can go a long way in mitigating how soon these platforms can detect the JF-17.As the maxim goes; “First Look, First Shoot, First Kill”.

Hurjet development progressing quite quickly.

Who could be that 3 countries? Egypt? Spain? Indonesia? Malaysia? Someone from Middle East? 🤔

Spain, Egypt and Saudi I think.

This trainer is a trainer for 5th gen aircraft, with similar 1 screen cockpit layout. So i suspect anyone looking for 5th gen fighters will be interested in the Hurjet or similar aircraft that can emulate the 5th gen fighter cockcpit experience.

A follow up, considering India will most likely be equipping the Armenians with Su-30MKI, Pakistan should develop the JF-17 Block 3 with all the necessary features to have the best chances of defeating that adversary. Pakistan, Chinese, and Turkish systems to make it tailor made to out do the flanker.

This will also give good feedback as to how the TFX should develop to meet Pakistan’s needs. There is also the possibility Armenia will acquire the Rafale, and if that materialized the JF-17 should have a pathway to deal with that threat as well. Better missiles, better EW, and plan for a better engine, a better radar, an internal IRST based on the one from the KAAN. Etc.

India will not dare equip the Armenians with the SU-30. The Russians won’t allow it and there are other geo-political complications emanating from such purchase.
