PAF J-35AE - News, Updates and Discussions

J-35 (WS21) is the code for the export version.J-35A (WS19) is the code for the PLAAF version. There is no J-35AE.PAF may get J-35(WS21) in short term.It has no possibility to get J-35A(WS19) in short term.

1. Although the WS19 has been finalized and started small batch production, it is not yet fully mature. the WS19 is a completely new engine design, which needs a lot of flight tests and detail adjustments. At the same time, the matching maintenance system also needs to be re-established.WS21 is an upgraded engine, its development risk is very small, the original maintenance system can be easily transitioned to WS21.
2. WS21 can be easily introduced into the JF-17 system and become the common engine for JF-17 and J-35. This combination of 4th+5th fighters using the same engine will greatly reduce the use and maintenance costs of the PAF. It is also the best combination for these two export-oriented fighters. Of course, the WS21 could also be sought to be produced in Pakistan after the conditions are in place in Pakistan.

Thanks, bro.
I'm using the translation feature that comes with Microsoft Edge to translate the page, and DeepL to translate what I'm saying. The Google family of products doesn't work.

I have tested many translation programs including OpenAI and they do not work to my satisfaction. The biggest problem with foreign translation software is the inability to recognize words unique to the Chinese context. Chinese translation software can recognize these unique words very well, but they will just block certain sensitive content. For a large number of terms specialized for Chinese military fans, all translation software can do nothing. Especially for Chinese civilian political terms, all translation software has a large number of mistranslations.

So, I'll focus on the weapons aspect of my future statements in PDF, and stay away from other topics.
Members here will understand the translation issues. No worries. Keep going.
没事的,这里都是朋友,不是中国朋友就是巴基斯坦朋友。所以大家都会理解和明白的。不用担心。

Dear you took translation thing too seriously, Please understand that English is not our first language either. Language is just a communication medium and what ever you are doing is simply great. We want to assure you that we understand your concern about language barriers. While English may not be your native tongue, you've done a great job of communicating your thoughts. We believe we've mutually understood each other. Your work is exceptional, and we encourage you to continue your great work and forget about all worries with respect to language.

I am much more interested in stealth cruise missiles and hypersonic missiles/HGV. The weapons is the real deal. They will make our 4th gen fighters into next gen beasts.

India's migs are dropping like flies while deliveries for Tejas mk1a has been delayed for another 6 months at least for the engine. They are in for a tough decade ahead.Dassault only produced 13 Rafales in 2023 . It is currently building around 2 per month.

If Pakistan is getting J35 in 2026, wonder what is India's answer and counter.
I suspect India would immediately lobby for the F-35, or try and buy the Su-57.

There's also the option of buying the Kf-21, but i doubt it'll happen.

Hi,

If India gets the US F35---then it can say bye bye to its independence.

Acquisition of fighter aircraft from the USA makes you lose your sovereignty---.

It is better that india wear a cow bell around its neck than get the F35---.

They will settle for kf-21. Mark my words. It's not ready until 2026 tho then a few more years before first delivery.

But that makes less sense - KF-21 brings nothing India’s own programs cannot do.

They need an operational capability as soon as the timeline for J-35 acquisition is confirmed for Pakistan and F-35 is the ideal if not “roses with thorns” platform for India.

The combat capability of the first generation KF21 is not on the same level as that of the J35. According to the development prospects, South Korea will at least move on to the next stage, which is to develop a stealth missile compartment version of the KF21, making it a true fifth generation aircraft. India has such waiting time, why not ask the United States to sell F35, or develop AMCA themselves, or join the Rafale F5 program

Kf-21 is one of the best 4.5 generation fighters out there in the market. There's just too much backlog for Rafale so the next best thing is to acquire kf-21 as a stop gap. F-35 is impossible unless they want to throw away sovereignty in exchange for that. J-35 will enter service with PLAAF in 2-3 years time but that doesn't mean it will be in service with PAF anytime soon. 2026 is the timeline for kf-21 to enter serial production.it makes perfect sense to go after what's available in the market.
