The V1 Flying bomb was the worlds first cruise missile. An unmanned gyro guided plane that delivered a tonne of high
explosive each time one hurtled into the ground. 2419 were to explode in London between June 1944 and March 1945, which is just 9 months. The distinctive noise of their pulse jet engine which cut out after a predetermined mileage terrorised London’s population. They quickly became known as Doodle bugs.

The V1 Flying Bomb

The V1 was capable of killing large numbers of people at one go, inflicting terrible injuries and causing huge material damage to
buildings and homes. The V1 caused lots of chaos and blast damage over a wide area. It exploded on the surface, and a huge blast wave
rippled out from the epicentre. As it did so it left a huge vacuum, which caused a second rush of air as the vacuum was filled.
This caused a devastating pushing and pulling effect.

At the impact site houses or buildings were totally demolished and destroyed. In the inner London suburbs where terrace houses were
packed together, sometimes up to 20 houses would totally collapse, just at one hit.Brick walls were pulverised into small fragments.

Further out from the epicentre walls, roofs and window frames were ripped out exposing the contents and innards of the house. Further out still, all the windows were blown out and roofing slates blown off. Every time a Doodlebug landed hundreds of houses were damaged. Ranging from total demolition to minor damage. This was a freezing, drenched summer and repairs would take several months. Londoners were de-housed in their tens of thousands or shivered in cold, damp and roofless houses. The blast area of a V1 extended across a radius of 400 -600 yards in each direction.

Anyone unlucky enough to be close to the impact site would be blown apart or suffer crush injuries from falling masonry. Others would be trapped below collapsed buildings and have to be dug out. Further away from the impact site awful injuries were inflicted by shards of flying glass.

During the course of the attacks the nature of the injuries changed somewhat. At the beginning people were caught unawares on the street and injuries from flying glass were widespread. Later on, people had understood the necessity of shelter in safe (er) areas of their home e.g. under the stairs. However, this had the effect of less flying glass injuries but more crush injuries from people being buried in the ruins of collapsed houses.

The toll of human suffering was appx. 6184 people killed by V1’s and 17981 seriously injured and maimed. Tens of thousands of others received lesser injuries. Countless more would suffer the pain of bereavement or from the loss of their home and treasured possessions.

The suffering and grief endured by Londoner’s during this period must never be forgotten.

No, it’s not.

If anything it’s a copy of South African drone called the ARD-10 that never made it to mass production. It was rumored that Iran purchased the tech from the company back in 2005 to [eventually] make S-131.

Iran and South Africa have good relations and some South African military tech has reached Iranian circles (see Zoubin AD which is mistakenly referred to as Iranian “iron dome” when it has more in common with a SA air defense system).

And the delta wing drone design that SA “thought of”, dates back to Cold War era where NATO concepts of a stealthy delta wing suicide drone to use against Soviets were discussed.

And comparing it to V-1 is just silly. That’s like saying every Ballistic Missile is based off of V-2. And every airplane is based of Kitty Hawk and Wright Brothers design.

Your daily reminder that Shaheds are still relevant and have finally overwhelmed Ukrainian air defenses.

We no longer hear about 34 out of 32 shaheeds shot down everyday.

What is Israel waiting for, no compromise for stealing brands, court trial and justice...

So as far as I understand, this is project with Nazi's root and beginning, and continued by Israel... classic case, no...

As we can see in flight the first documented case of S-136 using terrain avoidance to avoid power lines.

Whether that’s done from LIDAR, terrain map data, or optical + AI…remains TBD.

A great truth has been said by this drone specialist and let us expect surprises on the fighter jet side. There is so much bad analysis in the IRIAF section that it is not worth the time to respond. The news and the revelations will speak for themselves.

Any sane country with these things in its hands would have done this to create a domestic jet-powered HALE UCAV for the AWACS/ELINT + Heavy Strike role. Shahed-149 has inner bays with rolling PGM carrier. Leadership is wasting this platform by not driving it further. Same story with Flying Wing Shahed-171/191.

Too expensive (for Iran) and a HALE ideally needs a Sat comm network, something Iran still doesn’t have because of unreliable SLV tech. Supposedly the Solemani constellation is supposed to be that, who knows when that will come to fruition. We are severely behind in Space race to the likes of India and other middle tier space powers.

Anyway Ground based stations can you get you a few hundred kms at most. But for something like a global hawk class drone you need real data link capabilities as I’m sure your well aware.

Also what in the world happened to the Jahesh-700 (FJ33/44)?

I don’t think Iran has provided any proof it can mass produce Owj or Jahesh-700 reliabily and cost effectively. Remember they abandoned the Soumar due to trouble with reverse engineering the Russian engine on it and it ended up being more costly and less performance than the Russian version (allegedly).

This is why I believe TP-1 was wildly successful and dozens of drones and CMs found their mark. It’s very difficult to detect small craft at tree top height flying a pre programmed path, specially at night. The IRGC has gained a lot of expertise and experience operating these over Ukraine and ME. I bet there are specialist teams within the IRGC familiar with all the defenses these drones come up against.

Ok, that one is perfect addition for resistance groups in syria and lebanon.

It’s far more robust version of the Lancet with a much bigger warhead/ range. Lancet is a battlefield drone.
