New car prices changed for four car brands in Russia in the period between January 1 and January 15, 2024. In this respect reports Analytical agency “Avtostat” with a link to the website “Price Auto”.

So, since the beginning of the year, Chery has reduced the cost of the Tiggo 8 crossover by 240 thousand rubles. The Dongfeng automobile brand reduced the price of the 580 crossover by 101 thousand rubles (-3.7%). However, Geely increased the prices of all its cars by 10-20 thousand rubles at the beginning of January.

In addition, UAZ cars produced in 2024 have become more expensive. The cost of UAZ Hunter increased by 35 thousand rubles. The SGR commercial vehicle family has become equally more expensive. The price of UAZ “Patriot” and “Pickup” models increased by 50-60 thousand rubles. The price of the UAZ “Profi” family increased from 50 thousand to 105 thousand.

Before that, automobile expert Roman Soldatov statedIt is stated that the minimum cost of a new foreign car in Russia, which is currently around 2.8 million rubles, may increase to 3-3.2 million rubles in 2024. Prices of second-hand cars increased by 21% in 2023 15:16​

Prices of second-hand cars under three years old increased by 20.7% in Russia during the year. In this respect reports National Agency for Industrial Information (NAI).

“During the year, average prices for “new” used (up to 3 years old) cars increased by 20.7%. While the price of cars aged 4-6 years increased by 29.4%, the average prices of cars aged 7-10 years increased by 34.0%. The report states that the price of cars in the 11-23 age category increased by 33.4%.

Additionally, the average price of a new car in 2023 rose It increased by 17.3% and reached 3.7 million rubles.

Before that, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that the Russian automobile market would begin to recover and the sales level could reach 1.3 million units in 2024. The department stated that the sales volume in 2026 will correspond to the average annual sales volume in 2015-2021. The market will gradually grow by 1% per year from 2027. Thus, by 2030 the Russian automobile market will reach the level of 1.8 million cars per year, and by 2035 the sales volume will reach 1.9 million cars per year.

The recommended retail price of Lada Vesta Sedan in the minimum configuration without airbags will be 1.46 million rubles. In this respect reports Avtograd News is publicly available on the social network VKontakte.

“Sales will probably start at the end of January or early February, as soon as the certificate of conformity for this version of the vehicle is received. So far, dealers have a sufficient number of cars in the richer equipment levels equipped with Airbeg in their warehouses,” the message says.

AvtoVAZ started producing Vesta cars without airbags on December 11, 2023 due to parts shortage. This workaround is necessary to eliminate conveyor downtime and avoid creating a buildup of shortages within the facility. The installation of this option on Lada cars will continue in 2024.

Vesta cars in the minimum configuration without airbags are equipped with gasoline engines with a capacity of 106 hp. and manual transmission.

Sales of new trucks set a record in 2023​

Last year, 143.7 thousand new trucks were sold in our country. This is 71% more than in 2022, and is a record since 2007. The previous maximum was set in 2012 (128.9 thousand vehicles). In addition, for the first time in the last 10 years, the truck market has overcome the mark of 100 thousand vehicles. This was reported by experts of AUTOSTAT agency.
It should be reminded that this statistic is based on the data of JSC "PPK"*, but using the segmentation of the agency AUTOSTAT. The leader of the Russian market of trucks remained the domestic brand KAMAZ, whose sales in 2023 amounted to 31 thousand vehicles. Chinese SITRAK (23.6 thousand vehicles), Shacman (20.8 thousand vehicles), FAW (15.8 thousand vehicles) and Howo (6.9 thousand vehicles) also made it to the top five most popular brands.
 

Sales of Hongqi HS5 New crossover start in Russia​

Premium crossover Hongqi HS5 New is expected at dealers in the near future. Alexander Zalogin, brand director of Avilon Hongqi, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta about it. According to him, the novelty will be presented in two configurations - Comfort and Deluxe - costing 5 million 390 thousand rubles and 5 million 990 thousand rubles, respectively. Hongqi HS5 New is equipped with a 245 hp engine and 8-speed gearbox, a wide range of options and active safety features.
The Comfort version, for example, has a panoramic roof, 360-degree camera, keyless access, heated seats. The Deluxe configuration is supplemented with cruise control, heated leather steering wheel, memory steering wheel and exterior mirrors, rear parking radar and touchscreen boot. The car's interior features two 12.3-inch screens, an 8.3-inch projection screen and a 9-inch interior rearview mirror. In addition, the Hongqi HS5 New has 253-colour ambient lighting and a Bose audio system with 12 speakers.
As previously reported "AUTOSTAT", the Chinese premium brand Hongqi, which entered the Russian car market in May 2023, until the end of the year has transferred more than 3.3 thousand cars to dealers' orders. The business class sedan Hongqi H5 became the undisputed bestseller of the brand in the reporting period. The second place in terms of demand was taken by the premium crossover HS5, and the flagship full-size electric crossover E-HS9 completes the top three. Hongqi's dealer network currently comprises up to 20 centers in the metropolitan region and the most economically developed cities. During 2023, a spare parts warehouse was formed and filled, and logistics chains were established. In 2024, Hongqi intends to expand its dealer network to 35-40 centers and significantly increase the number of regions of presence.
The sales volume plans include at least 12 thousand cars of the brand. Hongqi also plans to introduce new generations of models already available on the Russian market. Recall that today the Hongqi model lineup in Russia includes the flagship executive sedan H9, premium full-size electric crossover E-HS9, business class minivan HQ9, premium full-size crossover HS7, business sedan H5 and mid-size crossover HS5.
 

AVTOVAZ will introduce a new brand in Russia in 2024​

AVTOVAZ plans to introduce a new brand to the Russian market in 2024. As follows from the company's presentation, it will be represented by two licensed models in the C/D segments. Details about them are not officially disclosed, but, obviously, the production of novelties will be established at the site of AVTOVAZ in St. Petersburg.
According to sources of Motor.ru portal, the first crossover will enter the assembly line of the enterprise, and it can happen already during 2024. The second model, the production of which is expected next year, is designated in the presentation of AVTOVAZ as "non-SUV" and has the outline of a sedan. Recall that in February 2023, AVTOVAZ acquired a 99% stake in the authorized capital of Nissan Manufacturing Rus at a price of €1. The concluded deal preserves a call option for Nissan to buy back the former assets in Russia within 6 years, in case the relevant decision is made in the future and approved by the Russian government.
In June last year, the plant launched mass production of the LADA X-cross 5 crossover, which is a redesigned version of China's FAW Bestune T77. According to AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, as a result, a batch of 170 cars was produced, which were distributed among corporate clients.
 

In 2023, 1.1 million passenger cars were imported into Russia​

At the end of last year, 1,093,800 passenger cars were imported into our country. Such data were announced by experts of the agency AUTOSTAT. New passenger cars (age up to 3 years) were imported in the amount of 706.7 thousand vehicles. This is 3.7 times more than in 2022. If we consider monthly volumes of imports of new passenger cars, they were the highest in October (86.8 thousand vehicles), and the lowest - in February (23.9 thousand vehicles).
In December, 78.1 thousand of such cars were imported into the country. As for used cars (older than 3 years), in 2023, they were imported in the amount of 387.1 thousand vehicles. This is 1.5 times more than a year before. From January to May, more than 30 thousand used cars were imported into our country every month. In June, this indicator crossed the 40-thousand mark, and in July it reached its peak (51.3 thousand vehicles).
Since August, it went down, and in September, an anti-record was set (17.2 thousand vehicles), which was due to the introduction of a new recycling fee and a ban on imports of a number of cars from Japan. Since October, imports of used cars exceeded the 20,000 threshold and remained at this level until the end of the year. Thus, in December, 23.4 thousand used cars were imported to Russia from abroad. New passenger cars are most often imported from China. For example, in December, the share of China accounted for 76.1% of the total import volume.
The second place is occupied by Kyrgyzstan (17.4%), and the third - by Kazakhstan (2.2%). Japan is still the leader in imports of used cars, whose share in December was 60.2%. Then come Belarus and South Korea (14.7% and 8.7% respectively).

AVTOVAZ has disclosed the release dates of new models​

According to the company's development strategy until 2030, AVTOVAZ plans to release 12 new models in various segments, as well as the development of partnership projects. As follows from the presentation of AVTOVAZ, already in the first quarter of 2024 the flagship LADA Vesta NG will receive a new power unit 1.8 EVO in conjunction with a variator, and in the middle of the year for the model will again be available electronic stability control (ESC).
In May at the plant "LADA-Izhevsk" it is planned to launch serial production of electric car LADA e-Largus together with resumption of production of standard LADA Largus with internal combustion engine. The production of the business class sedan LADA Aura is scheduled to be launched in September. By the end of the year the LADA Niva Sport SUV is expected to appear. In addition, in 2025 AVTOVAZ will expand the engine range of the family of SUVs LADA Niva Travel and Niva Legend due to a more powerful 1.8 litre engine. Also in 2024, AVTOVAZ plans to introduce a new brand to the Russian market, which will be represented by two licensed models in the C/D segments.

At the same time, work will continue on new models, including the LADA Iskra, the start of production of which at the plant in Togliatti is scheduled for early 2025. The new family will be produced in three body variants: sedan, station wagon and cross-universal.
At the same time, LADA Iskra will be presented on the market in parallel with a more compact and low-cost LADA Granta and will eventually completely replace this model in the line-up of AVTOVAZ: the production of LADA Granta is planned to be completed by 2027. In addition, the debut of a crossover on the LADA Vesta platform is scheduled for 2026. As the president of AVTOVAZ Maxim Sokolov told the agency "AUTOSTAT", the approved production plan of AVTOVAZ for 2024 assumes the increase of car production by 33% up to 500 thousand vehicles.
It is planned to sell about 450 thousand LADA cars on the Russian market, moreover, the company expects to supply more than 100 thousand cars out of this number under the state order.
 

The former Volkswagen plant in Kaluga will resume operations in the first half of 2024​

The former Volkswagen car plant in Kaluga is expected to restart during the first half of 2024. This was announced by Kaluga Region Governor Vladislav Shapsha in an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel, adding that negotiations between the new owner of the plant and a potential industrial partner are at the final stage. "The finishing touches in these negotiations have already been summarized," he said.
Recall that in May 2023, Volkswagen auto concern finalized the sale of its Russian assets, including a car plant in Kaluga, to Art Finance. Russian authorities agreed the deal at a price of up to 125 million euros without a buy-back option.
The plant has a production capacity of 225,000 cars per year. Recently, the plant in Kaluga produced three models: Volkswagen Tiguan crossover, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Rapid softbacks. In March 2022, local production and import of Volkswagen and Skoda cars to our country were stopped.

LAUNCH OF SALES OF THE NEW LADA VESTA SW SPORTLINE
Sales of Lada Vesta SW Sportline have started in Russia. The cost of the novelty in the body station wagon starts from 2.35 million rubles. Sedan of this brand went on sale in November 2023 and costs 175 thousand rubles cheaper, Kommersant reports.
The model received a trunk with a volume of 825 liters, which is 1.5 times more than that of the previous version. It was also equipped with a modified suspension with new shock absorbers, air conditioner, heated front seats, heated windshield and rear parking sensors.
The power unit is represented by 1.6-liter engine capacity of 118 HP.
