International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS)

Would love to see A330 in PAF colours but unsure for a few reasons

1) With JF-17, J-10C and soon J-35 would not Chinese solution work better?
2) No domestic A330 Ecosystem in Pak civil aviation

Typhoon will never see PAF colours due to US related systems on it
True, but those 3 things I listed (satellites, MRTT, and Typhoon) were the things Airbus DS (UK-Germany) actually manages alongside C295 and A400M.

The helicopter stuff is with Airbus Helicopters (France), so a non starter unless they're coming too. But the PAA had been interested in the H225M and H215M.

I'd say the likeliest focus of Airbus DS is satellites, especially for the armed forces' PakNav initiative (regional GNSS for supporting our SOWs and drones).

However, I do think A330 MRTT can be on the cards too as the PAF had been interested in them. The JF-17, J-10CEs and even J-35 would use hose-and-drogue, so working with the A330 MRTT shouldn't be an issue. The MRTT's boom probe could connect with the F-16s and, when the F-16s get retired, be replaced with a 3rd hose-and-drogue. Of course, if the PAF gets the KAAN, then the KAAN may use a boom AAR system.
A330 has been flying with Air Blue and also PAF’s civilian cargo operation Air Eagle.

However, this is likely not something on the agenda and more so with weapons fits.
I'd say satellite solutions are the likeliest item on the agenda, followed by the A330 MRTT and, for the kicks and giggles, Typhoon or A400M. Western OEMs might think if there was a time for the PAF to randomly buy something, it'd be now.

Short question here, does PAF intend to buy very long range BVR missiles like PL-17? (the kind that can be used to kill/eliminate force multipliers like AWACS). The US equivalent that we have seen is the AIM-174B. India has Meteor missile (200 km) range and its own indigenous missile Astra missile purportedly having maximum range of 340 km.

Is Pakistan in the process of manufacturing any such missiles (highly doubtful because PAF first needs its Faaz missiles before going very long range).

Best group, they are Turkish company who Specialize in RCWS and Armour. Mainly they supply Armour plating for vehicles etc to companies in Pakistan.

Also HIT has 2 of its own RCWS too this time apart from this one.

Could be a few motivating factors:
  • Marketing CAMM-MR to PN
  • Marketing A330 MRTT to PAF
  • Marketing satellites to the PAF/PN
  • Marketing Typhoon to PAF (a hope that the J-35 money can be pivoted their way).
MBDA UK/Italy were already at IDEAS 22, they exhibited CAMM-ER, Marte-ER and various Helos. This time MBDA France is coming reportedly.

I thought this was the outcome of the tender issued by HIT to develop RCWS a couple of years ago. Seems it’s just an import.

I don't think there was any tender for a dual MG RCWS, HIG only gave out tenders for Dev of single MG RCWS afaik.
