PAF just does not want to put all eggs in one basket. KAAN is the "western fighter" meant to replace the F-16 but it will take time, probably 10-15 years. It's not about a country being superior over the other. China and Pakistan both allowed Azerbaijan to customize its JF-17 with Turkish avionics and weapons. It doesn't mean Turkish technology is better than Chinese. Lots of factors go into it such as geopolitics and supply chain.

Turks just want to make money. They don't really care. Also worth mentioning Pak Navy was allowed to customize its MILGEM.

PAF usually does initial training through test pilots, who then, teach instructor pilots, then together write the manual and only then training begins for the pilots.
About 2 years.
 
Pakistan is a good salesperson for the Chinese weapons, after Pakistan buys and tries certain Chinese weapons, other countries, especially Islamic countries usually soon follow suit, they all wait and see Pakistan to try those weapons first.

For the following reasons:
- A GE-class 35lb indigenous engine with super-cruising and super-colling features
- A 3K+ T/R module AESA system for long range detection, EW, EA etc.
- A highly "clever" EW/EA that can beat the Russian EW/EA which beats the Western EW/EA
- A 6th gen USAF-class CCA scheme incorporating stealthy unmanned jets like KIZILELMA for A2A and ANKA-3 for deep strike
- A 10K+ young and energetic workforce working 24/7 with the Ashk-i Ibadet to prove their places under the sun. Even after a terrorist attack to kill them they shout out: we'll work more, and we'll produce more
- AI and Deep Learning accelerated implementation of the best of the TURANic battle strategies and tactics, which had produced 3 world famous empires: Ottoman, Safavid, and Mughal
- Etc.

To be honest, when I see KAAN, I just think of it as a poor man's F-35.
