JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Ofcourse..., the Air Chief of Morocco has a photo session with PAF's 'awesome-ness' Air Chief & all of a sudden: Morocco is interested inthe JF-17

Morocco, the Nation that has strong ties with the US. The Nation that operates better Vipers than Egypt in Africa. The Nation that has placed orders for the Block 72.

They're interested in the JF-17?!!

Okay...

Kal jab Australia ka Air Chief tapak parey ga - we can run that story too.

Does Morocco F16s have BVRs?

Edit: it does, so probably won't need Jf17s then

why is that bl3 not showcased with pl10 and pl15, CM400AKG, C802, ARM etc etc

I think perhaps china wants to export only SD-10 / PL-5s with JF-17 deals.
If PL-15, PL-10 are exported via JF-17 deals then it will compete with J-10C in the market. That's why PAF's own long range BVR will boost Jeffs sales. Faaz 1 & 2 (100 km & 180 km) as reported by GIDS. Not sure on current development stage. There was also a talk to merge that program with turkey's AAM program.

BTW, it could be very much possible that PAC isn't just bothering to display the advance weaponary, for example they can easily showcase Taimur ALCM. I don't understand why its not here. PAC is really not good at marketing and has shown indolent behavior various times in the past. Making blatant mistakes on posters in mega airshows and stuff. Even the info on website was incorrect for a long time. So I will not be surprised if its not the chinese but PAC itself isn't taking initiative to show more advance weapons. Showing all these free fall GPBs is waste of space actually. Can show few REKs and then focus should be on missiles.

Cool, so these new Jeffs have replaced the remaining old mirages in this squadron. (or in the process)

That's important development as PAF now will have AESA equipped fighters over Arabian sea region, boost / support to the navy as well!

The Pakistan Air Force's Fighter Wings, Regional Combatant Commands and Squadrons currently have a total of 148 PAC JF-17 Thunders in service (123 JF-17A/Cs and 25 JF-17B/Ds), and the PAF has, as of November 2024, a further 35 JF-17 Block IIIs on order.

How many block 3s has Pakistan ordered, the original order was 30 is that still the case or has that been expanded?

No information, just my guess that JF-17Cs order should go up to atleast 60 aircrafts

As these are already replacing Mirages of No.8 Squadron and perhaps will also replace the ones in No.7 Squadron. Plus "Tigers" squadron of F-7PGs should be replaced in due course too.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and its my opinion that J-35 is going to be an aircraft with very high price tag, PAF would only be able to induct in very small numbers. J-10Cs order until 2030 is only 25 or 36 airframes at most. (There was a document shared earlier in this forum which described payment plan that was till 2029 if I am not wrong for ~25 aircrafts, unable to find document rn.). This means PAF will rely mostly on JF-17s. This makes sense too because of economic output, existing payment plans, and plus there's no 5th gen threat from IAF till next 10 years or so.

Further more, PAF's secret "PFX" program likely revolves around JF-17 block IIIs, (It could be a block IV with more indigenous components as PAF had stated it as "Jf-17 PFX" in one of slides). To me this indicates that PAF will focus on JF-17s platform and more numbers of block IIIs, IV/PFX will be inducted.
