Indian Navy News & Discussions

To be honest, these aircraft carriers are small compared to the ones operated by the U.S. Navy. I hope the next aircraft carriers India builds will be as large as the Nimitz-class carriers used by the USN. To establish a strong presence in the Middle East—which is crucial for India’s energy security—India needs powerful, capable aircraft carriers.

This is super cool if they can implement it safely

Why would you want large ones like that?

India needs to protect and project power to protect its SLOCs and energy investments which it can do so sufficiently with the medium carriers and associated surface escorts.

Unless India is looking to invade UaE or Qatar it has no need for such large investments at this point and is better placed to start looking for securing a permanent base in Africa not unlike the opposing ones in Djbouti or elsewhere

We have no plans of starting Gulf War III
Both Vikramaditya and Vikrant can carry a 18-22 Mig29Ks and Rafale M along with 4 Mh60 Romeo ASW and 4 K31 Helix AEW Helicopters
That's enough fire power for defense of our own Trade routes

Even UK Queen Elizabeth class which is considered the most advance carrier in Europe will carry 24 F35Bs along with a complement of 12 Helicopters

While the 28000 ton Italian Cavour class which was currently seen in maritime exercises with Vikramaditya only carries 12-16 F35B and 6-8 helis

No Aircraft Carriers Barring American Nimitz and Gerald Ford class , can actually fight a war against a competent air force

Airbus C-295 Aircraft: A Key Step Toward Strengthening Maritime Surveillance

The Indian Ministry of Defence is expected to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) soon for the acquisition of 15 Airbus C-295 aircraft in maritime variants, aimed at enhancing the Indian Navy’s and Coast Guard’s operational capabilities. This decision comes after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) approved the Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) earlier this year. Under this approval, the Navy will receive nine C-295 aircraft for medium-range maritime reconnaissance (MRMR), while the Coast Guard will acquire six C-295 multi-mission maritime aircraft (MMMA).

@Nilgiri . Congratulations sir.

I would strongly advise to insist on thorough washing and cleaning from dealership before accepting the delivery. It is already looking dirty.

Also get paint protection film application done. It is a rough neighborhood. Neighbours don't have good driving sense or practice. 😀😀

Lol, the ships closest to my heart with Nilgiri in moniker themselves are the leander variants, the original Nilgiri class...with none of this angular mini-kolkata stuff now.

The raised forecastle look, the clean lines, the box turret.....

......more elegant weapons....from a more civilised time as Kenobi would say.

Sources told India Today TV that the multi-role frigate is now upright, with foreign agency experts deballasting the warship using balloon-like structures, pushing the ship's surface up.

Maybe less focus on neighbours and more on your own driving sense....
