Really? Prevent 'Chinese restrictions'?Producing a truly advanced version of the JF-17 would be better, and Pakistan's ability to fly itself would prevent Chinese restrictions
If we can make advanced version of fighters ourselves, why would we go to Turkey, China or Russia to purchase a similar fighter? Also, Pakistan has an advanced version of the fighters in order to improve the terms of negotiations for the purchase or development of fighters from sources such as Turkey, China or Russia
I don't think they are using the thunder as a base platform. The PAF official mentioned a new plane with a stronger engine and a longer range compared to the thunder. To some degree yes but they're using thunder as the base platform instead of reinventing the wheel. A smart approach IMO provided they stay persistent and finances flow.
Buddy, even if PAF manages to build itself a jet half as capable as being envisioned right now, It would still be a massive leap for Pakistan's defence & aviation industry.Seems like PAF and pac has limited themselves in just regional tech development and not international trend
They want something to go head to toe against proposed Tejas MK2
This may solve reginal security needs but our local aerospace industry will be left far behind

From where do you think we will be getting engines for PF-X?
If we can make advanced version of fighters ourselves, why would we go to Turkey, China or Russia to purchase a similar fighter?
Let me ask you this again, think clearly & then answer:We clarify something very simple
The Swedish JAS-39E/F aircraft are in the same category as the JF-17 aircraft over 15 years. The size of the development on the two aircraft is different. Is China benefiting from raising the level of the JF-17 aircraft, so it loses exports to the J10CE aircraft that it provides to Pakistan? Consequently, the size of the technology supplied to Pakistan by the Chinese side, and even the structure manufactured with less advanced technology, led to a lack of international marketing due to the countries’ lack of conviction in its efficiency in the field of air combat. The empty weight of the aircraft is very high, which led to poor performance, which made the Pakistani side cover the gaps with the J-10CE aircraft, regardless of the fact that the J-10CE aircraft is larger in weight and size. However, Sweden’s reliance on a light fighter shows that the size of the aircraft’s development has an effective role in covering most national demands. This does not mean refusing to buy Chinese fighters, but the percentage of covering national needs is less in the event of a weak technology used in the aircraft, as you can see from the responses of some and the disparagement of the Pakistani development program itself, which shows that countries such as China and Turkey will not welcome Pakistan’s development of an aircraft Local reduces the size of the material gains for any of them or the chances of their fighters entering in large numbers in the Pakistani Air Force. This is the point of view that I present. China has better technology, but it offers Pakistan the least possible. I will give you an example. Pakistan wanted to buy 40 aircraft in the past years of the J-20 model. Of course, China refused. The same thing. China had an early warning aircraft of the KJ-500 model. It offered it the least, the ZDK-03. This was reflected in Pakistan’s move to more Swedish early warning aircraft, the Saab 2000. Things are clear.

Producing an indigenous AESA for fighters seems to pretty high priority, if we see these projects materialize we should see old thunder versions be upgraded to equip these radars.

I could be wrong but the way he phrased it. It seams like a clean sheet design
