Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

Well, I'd put it far more delicately. Training crew, further tests and trials while 'missing' components become ready, etc, etc. Why are these things so difficult to imagine? Why be so simplistically reductive? You should have far more faith in your hard working brethren.

What’s the bicycle in the back for?

Can’t take a half finished toy model seriously. We have seen much more serious models (IRIN destroyer designs and the Persian Gulf warship) never reach fruition.

New domestically-made submarines to join Iranian Navy fleet

Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said the force would take delivery of several new domestically-designed and manufactured submarines very soon.

Speaking at a press briefing in the capital Tehran on Saturday, November 23, the senior official said the Iranian Navy has successfully thwarted various threats and sanctions and made huge strides on Iran’s path of progress.

The country’s naval units are working diligently to ensure their presence in international waters. They have also drawn up plans to update and modernize ships and strengthened their naval bases to meet the demand in all areas, he said.

He added that the Iranian Navy is currently working on manufacturing several new submarines that will enter service soon.

He also praised the Iranian Navy’s missile power, recalling the manufacturing of a wide range of missiles with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers. “The Iranian Navy has also enhanced its capabilities in electronic warfare.”

He also stressed that the Navy has started building heavier ships than the Mowj class, specifying that two such warships are under construction.

This year, to mark the National Navy Day, celebrated every November 29, a ceremony will be held in the presence of foreign delegates, the Iranian Navy chief said.

The Navy also plans to hold an international maritime emergency response exercise as well as a combined naval exercise by the end of March, Irani said.

Plans for joint patrols with naval units of neighboring countries and the establishment of a number of ocean centers have also been developed, he stressed.

The Islamic Republic of Iran plays an active role in today’s multipolar world order with the discourse of resistance and the motto of peace and friendship, he said, stressing that “enemies should keep in mind that Iran will never be isolated.”

In recent years, the Iranian Navy has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing surface ships and submarines. It has also strengthened its presence in international waters to protect sea lanes and ensure the safety of merchant ships and oil tankers.

In recent years, the Iranian naval forces have also held military exercises with various countries, including Russia, China and Pakistan, to enhance their combat readiness.

They have also participated in joint efforts to combat piracy and maritime terrorism, exchange information on naval rescue and relief operations, and share operational and tactical experience to enhance the security and stability of international maritime trade.

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Beating its own record for the Iranian Navy’s destroyer with the highest number of cruise missiles, Sabalan has been armed with more anti-ship cruise missiles, Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani said.
The Navy chief told Tasnim that the missile capabilities of Sabalan have quadrupled in terms of the diversity and range of missiles in comparison with its initial mode.
He said the Sabalan destroyer is now furnished with 16 anti-ship cruise missiles.
The general noted that the upgraded version of the military vessel will be unveiled soon.

It will be interesting  to see what types of missiles will be used and where they will be positioned.

unfortunately subsonic ASCMs have proven ineffective against modern destroyers, so hopefully they are supersonic ASCMs

Whatever happened to the Zulfiqar Air Defense Boat that had the Nawab SAM? They showed only one model of it and haven't talked about it or shown any more numbers produced since?

I'm more interested to see what they removed to make room for extra missiles

Me too. Those small frigates have a small beam, whatever extra weight will affect stability, and after Sahand incident IRIN should be very careful with those modernizations.

On the other hand the most important right now addition would be more submarines. Any new Fateh class submarine (if the announced submarine it is of this class) will give IRIN a out PG submarine capable of planting naval mines and even ambush major US warships. Fateh it is operative and any new unit would ease and fasten new crews. A Besat class submarine only would slow tests, and complicate logistic chain IMO.

Sahand is not dead, new images show they are installing a new radar mast, they also reinstalled the white Phased Array radar, which means it has not suffered any damage from the floods.
In red are the openings made in the hull (one already closed) where they probably took out propulsion engines and generator engines to be repaired or replaced.

PS
Is it possible that it is in the dry dock at ISOICO ?

Interview with the navy commander, difficult to translate correctly, but anyway they talk about the projects for the Iranian navy.
https://www.tasnimnews.com/fa/news/...ان-به-موشک-عمودپرتاب-صیاد-گفتگوبا-امیر-ایرانی

in this sentence there is the question of the journalist Tasnim concerning the Sahand, the commander communicates some news, including (if my automatic translator has done its job) the period in which he will return to the fleet, he indicates two possibilities, one seems to me to be next February.
I ask those who speak Farsi here if they can confirm or if they can indicate which period the commander of the Iranian navy means.
thanks.
