Well even if we pick up old Puma frames for spares it may be worth it. In theory US should be OK with stuff like old Chinooks (they aporoved Belgium C-130H sale to us)

Chinooks are unlikely to receive U.S. approval due to concerns over engine and tandem rotor technology being compromised to China. Efforts to acquire(steal) Chinooks were made by the Chinese, as evidenced by the Taiwanese colonel incident, therefore they have not been able to replicate or design such tandem system (they don't have indigenous design capabilities for advanced rotorcraft systems).
