Not to discount the role of finance in modern U.S. economy, but I think the equanimity that was mentioned till 1992 (GHW Bush administration) was greatly disturbed by 9/11. It is difficult now to get any resistance to Israel and its actions in the current Congress. You can see how the two Congressional members, Tlaib and Omar are ridiculed for their politics.
Yes, 9/11 was the single most important event which gave the Israelis even more control of the American system, but I believe it was the Fall of the Soviet Union in 1991--a good decade before 9/11, which really started to cement the Israeli control of the American system. I have been in America since the GHW Bush administration and it was me who brought up his administration as the last one which showed some teeth to Israel and I have noticed how the subsequent American Presidents, starting with Bill Clinton 1992 become more and more subservient to Israel.
But the worst of the worst subservient would be Biden and very likely Trump is going to surpass even Biden in being an Israeli stooge if that's possible.
PS. Maybe the Fall of the Soviet Union introduced a level of imperialism, triumphalism and hubris never seen before that. But it surprises me that no analyst ever talks about how the Israeli influence increased so rapidly since early 90s and connected that with the Fall of the Soviet Union and the Rise of the Neo Cons; Israeli influence was not always this powerful!! BUT, for the political scientist minds here: Israel was not always this powerful and this power can be reversed using active, smart politics--something which I tried to stress leading to the Nov. 5, 2024 elections.
