Well, if this is true, seems like Assad is doomed.

Would have thought the Russian are going to at least fight for it, but seems they did the reasonable thing to just leave........

That gonna blow back on Russian international image......and this is going to have implication to Russian allies in Africa as well.

It may be true, but I’d wait for a better source than Newsweek.

That product has become a rag, with very low quality journalism. The article itself claims only Twitter sources.

Well, if they took Homs (Which is currently under siege) The Russian may as well go home, there are no way they could have supply Damascus if they don't have access to the coast.

It really depends on whether Assad loses Homs, if they did, Russian position in Syria would be untenable.

If Iran won’t help then no one will.

Confirmed to be evacuated which means they have insider intel and know Assad is finished.

Iran began to evacuate its military commanders and personnel from Syria on Friday, according to regional officials and three Iranian officials, in a sign of Iran’s inability to help keep President Bashar al-Assad in power as he faces a resurgent rebel offensive.

Agreed which is why I think that there is a chance that Russian ships are out at sea to wait out events, and haven’t left yet.

One, if they stuck in port they’d be soon under easier drone range.

Two, staying on the night seas but near Syria gives them the option to leave without the ‘hurry up panic’ if the rebels break through.

Three, if it works out for SAA (which honestly isn’t looking likely), they’ll just move back.

So they could just being prudent/ flexible without actually leaving Syria.

Just my conjecture though.

In reference to Palmyra, there seems to be even a race between all of rebel factions. Syrian rebels (HTS) from the North and US-backed rebels from the South (Al Tanf), as well as US-backed SDF forces from the Euphrates (Tabqa) are currently converging on this famous desert city.

That was another era,I don't know the politics between you two when Hafez was the president.
 
Assad is over.
This was just a waste of resources from Russia.
Once again, Arabs showed us their natural lack of organization and long run planification.
Diplomacy has also failed.
Iran is the main loser here And the fall of Syria could have huge consequences for Iran.
