There are a significant amount of Alawites, like 15% and there were many sunnis that were driven out by Assad, but I don't think the Alawites are a majority. especially right now, we saw many of them going to Tartus right after the Opposition took Hama.
 
It is over, russia and iran officially ditched assad..., now Turkyie has great responsibility to bolster and enhance capabilities of new syrian goverement trough mutually beneficial agreements.
