Even pro-Palestine Western analysts, like Pepe Escobar, and others don’t seem to know what’s going on. They see it from the Russia-Iran point of view. Either they think that the Russians or Iranians will move in to save Assad or it’s going to be a big loss for the anti-Israeli side. Most of them think that Turkey is a puppet of US-Israel and

Syria is 75% Sunni, and the Syrian rebels are Sunni. Bashar Al-Assad is an Alawite.

So the Sunnis of Syria thinks they are liberating their country from a heretical leader.

Alawites is not mainstream Shia Twelver, Imamiyah or Jafari school as you know.
