You know little about Muslim history outside ME it seems.

In the mid-18th century Bengal was probably the most wealthiest region on Earth and one of the few outside Europe that started industrialisation. BD was already at "proto-industrialisation" stage.

If I were Israeli, I would have preferred Assad as he was a 'familiar enemy'. With many rebel groups in Syria having a variety of ideas, it makes calculating a security matrix difficult.

This may partly explain why Israel is so shamelessly creating these 'buffer zones' inside Syrian territory and striking targets in the same they deem a threat.
