Syrian rebels appoint caretaker prime minister for three months to oversee power transition

From CNN's Eyad Kourdi

A Syrian rebel-linked government leader, Mohammad Al-Bashir, has been appointed as the country’s caretaker prime minister for the next three months, during which his government will oversee Syria’s transition to a new government, he announced in a televised address on Tuesday.

Ministers of the former HTS-linked Salvation Government, as well as Assad-era civil servants, will continue to serve as ministers in the caretaker government until March 1, 2025, Al-Bashir added.

“A cabinet session was held, including the working team from the Syrian Salvation Government, which operated in the Idlib region and its surroundings, as well as the Syrian government of the ousted regime. The session’s focus was on the transfer of institutions… and managing ongoing affairs,” Al-Bashir said in his address.

Most recently, Al-Bashir served as prime minister of the Salvation Government in Idlib. He had previously held the position of minister for Development and Human Affairs.

He is a trained engineer and holds additional qualifications in English and Sharia law, according to his resume, which is posted on the Salvation Government website.

Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and Ferraris: What it's like inside Assad's garage

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad owned several garages full of luxury cars.

I’m standing in one of them, on the compound of the presidential palace.

Aston Martins, Lamborghinis and Ferraris line the parking lot and, outside this carpark, there are more parking lots filled with dozens and dozens of armored cars.

The cars show the deep, deep corruption of the Assad regime, which is a big part of why this uprising started in the first place in 2011.

Assad ruled for quite some years, his father for decades before. The cars symbolize the levels of corruption and greed, they show the opulence and the lavish lifestyle Assad lives while so many Syrians were struggling to put food on the table.

The past 14 years Syrians have been under bombardment, they’ve been tortured, maimed, kidnapped, killed and meanwhile… Assad lived like a king with garages full of cars. With palaces, with incredible mosaics and marble.

We watched in the palace some ordinary people who managed to sneak in with their jaws dropped. They could not believe how he was living like this at a time when Syria was suffering so acutely.

So, this really is a metaphor for the root of the rot, for where it all started.

While many are celebrating the end of the Assad regime, Syrians are also anxious about who will control the country. The Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) group is at pains to show that they are different from the old guard, refusing to use or touch the luxury vehicles to show their difference from Assad.

But, the rebels who were guarding the palace wouldn’t look at me or talk to me until I put my headscarf on, so there are still extremely conservative tendencies from the majority of rebel forces who are controlling this country.

It is undeniable that the Turkic peoples from Central Asia were professionally trained by Turkey. This is evident from the numerous videos on X that showcase their disciplined and professional combat style. Turkey has undoubtedly brought these fighters into the region and maintains close ties with all groups on the ground, this is hard to dispute. Many renowned sources from the West confirm that Erdogan was the mastermind behind this overthrow, as his strategic planning and influence appear to have been crucial. This operation was therefore far more successful, as these units are significantly more disciplined than the Arab troops and act with extreme brutality, in the old steppe manner: "leaving no survivors."
Just out of curiosity, you do know that about 9 out of 10 of all the Syrian opposition forces that were engaged in fighting the Al-Assad regime and his allies in the past 2 weeks were local Syrian Arabs? Seems to me that they did very well. Turkey obviously played a likely role in training them which was also a good thing.

The Uzbeks and Uyghur's are most likely battle-hardened fighters that probably have been engaged in other armed conflicts as well.

I am curious are those opposition forces that lived in Turkey and who Erdogan wisely trained or are they volunteers who came recently? To me it looks like they had undergone extensive training.

Are you done trolling, clown? How many times do you need to be told that it was the useless Al-Assad regime that lost the Golan Heights, murdered Palestinians within Syria, accepted Israeli attacks for 20 + years and in general was absolutely useless? Don't blame other Arabs that have and had nothing to do with it.

KSA was the one that gathered the entire Arab and Muslim world and has been lobbying the world powers to end the Israeli occupation. The same KSA that refuses to sign the Abraham Accords and normalize with Israel as most Arab and Muslim countries in the region have done.

What gifts or praises? Unlike your Greece, that is in love with Zionists since forever, KSA has yet to recognize Israel, import a single Israeli product or have any relations at all. Even though KSA (from a cold and calculated position) would gain 1 billion more things if they did than the current status quo. But out of principle, it has not happened for 78 years.

So spare me your ignorant nonsense and keep crying about Syrians throwing the Al-Assad regime in the dustbin of history where it belongs! Not going to waste my time any longer with a ignorant Greek troll that has no business in Syria or any other Arab affairs.
So you joined the forum to insult people and start trouble.

The person in the picture is not Erdoğan’s daughte. The fact that Turkmen fought alongside the SNA does not prove that Turkey is interested in annexing Syria. Rather, Turkey seeks to prevent Kurdish dominance at its borders, as this could trigger a domino effect on its own southeast flank.

Borders are not changing. Turks has a cultural affinity with Aleppo, the people of Halab and the Turks of Anatolia have always been close. Thats all this is, borders are not changing.

I can use the same sort of polemical point about Iran and Southern Iraq.

You just need to read the ignorant and uninformed nonsense that he is constantly writing most of the time. To me that is a definition of a troll. The likes of Yammie are at least funny at times.

As for his Turkey obsession, that is also evident. Whenever I see his posts, every second post is about "evil Turkey". When not that he has a problem with most Arab states and Sunnis which to him are all AQ/ISIS. Every idiot is able to see right throw his agenda.

Somehow he has never had a problem with the "Islamic" Republic of Iran and their destructive meddling in the region and terrorism. Utter silence.

Then he shamelessly pretends to be against Israel and makes false accusations against countries that are yet to even establish ties with Israel unlike his own Greece.

So yes, from what I can see, he is a troll in my eyes that keeps nagging me like some kind of puddle looking for attention or some treats.

It is quite evident that he has hatred for Muslims. He is good to hide it though by playing out factions here. Sometimes he pretends to be pro-Arab, then he is pro-Iranian, then he insults Turkey (as usual), then he is pro-Israel, then he is anti-israel etc. And the usual stories (I once talked with Syrian, Arab, Turk x or y online who told me x or y stories). Very annoying.

The guy does not stand for anything or has any principles from what I can see. Changing opinions as the wind is blowing. The only constant seems to be his hatred for Turkey and Sunni Muslims.
Yeah, leave the malaka on his own.

This time i'm very hopeful for the region. Erdogan is not acting mighty. Treating Syria as equals and it's very promising.

10-15 years ago, you might remember. He was acting like Khalifa and meddled in to Arab affairs. He tried to act like a big brother to Arab countries and they showed him the finger.

Now, it's very important to treat Syria as equals. This will have a positive impact on the rest of the Arab countries and relations between Arab countries and Turkey will go into positive.

Essentially, we need to treat Syria like how we treat Azerbaijan. Not bossing around but helping every way in our capabilities. This would show that Turkey is an equal partner and loyal ally.

From there everything is in reach. With Syria back in to fold. There can be a oil and natural gas pipe to Europe for example, more cooperation on defense matters, industry etc..

Future looks bright.

Can you do me a favour and translate this or just a summary bro

So you joined the forum to insult people and start trouble.
You were the one that started insulting first. You were the one that tagged me first by starting to troll. Even a moderator had to tell you off. Are you drunk or under the influence of drugs? Who started with the silly insults, (harami, forgot or you don't even understand what you are writing)?

What I wrote are pure historical facts and ground realities that is why you cannot reply and why you started resorting to lies and your fantasy when I told the truth about your beloved Al-Assad regime that belongs in the dustbin.

Don't play around like a fool here, I can read you and your agenda here like an open book. Go fool some naive users who might believe your nonsense.

Lastly, if you stopped nagging me, I would not address you as 1) your posts are utter nonsense, 2) as a Greek I don't care about your opinion about events in the Arab world, 3) you are completely ignorant about the region, its history and what goes on, nor can you even speak Arabic. So yes, do me a favor, and stop trolling.

If you want civil and informative debates, start acting in a civl and non-trolling fashion. If not, you are wasting my time.

I asked you a simple question. You avoided to answer and started giving excuses, that I'm sure a lot of Iranians in here will probably have something to say about. Concerning the KSA and supposed no trade or Abraham Accords. Innocent little KSA.

Not that woman, she just have the same name.

And even she didn't said, "Aleppo belongs to Turkey"

Down with the Iranian propaganda. Shameless liars.

According to some sources, these Central Asian troops now make up a significant portion of the rebel forces, although the exact number remains unclear. I do not believe that Erdogan trained the HTS, but it is plausible that Turkey trained the Turkic peoples, strategically deployed them in the region, and established a structured organization. These activities appear to have been carried out on a high-level, strategically networked basis.

You wrote a bunch of lies and only lies. That is and was the problem. When I called your nonsense out and you had no replies or no ability to defend the Al-Assad regime that you love so much.

A for doing more, I already told 1 billion times that more should be done, could be done. I also told that there is no 1 unified Arab policy because we are divided into 20 + states with 20 + regimes and policies and that this among other issues, is the main problem in terms of instability In the region and outside meddling.

But since you are incapable of even remembering what you wrote 5 minutes ago, I don't expect this message to reach your brain.

The capital of Persian empires was in Iraq for more than a thousand years. but we in Iran do not consider that Iraq belongs to Iran.
