Bangladesh Air Force

We need to be just giving some money to republican and democrats politicians and these so called threats can be very easily neutralised.

No one in US cares that much about BD or India.

Not true.

Indian Americans care about India.

And they are about to be empowered like never before.

Anyways, the key for BAF will be to establish Western quality training/tactics with capable hardware from wherever it can be sourced.

Not just that but India is like US's nuisance boy to China south of Himalayas.

No. That is not the case.

Please follow @Michael excellent posts about the two versions of the J-35 in parallel development.
Could you tag me in the specific post where he discusses j35/A having a third variant downgraded for export?
There are four versions of the J-35 in the official SAC briefing. Three versions have been revealed so far, and one version is unknown. ------ export version; PLAAF self use version; PLAN catapult version.

But. the J-35 is not a category that the BAF can consider. In fact, any 5th generation fighter is not a category that BAF can consider. ------ There is not enough money. The money at BAF's disposal is very, very, very far from what is needed for a 5th gen fighter.

Even Algeria a country 60 percent the economic size of Bangladesh has a whopping defense spending of 21 billion in 2024. Anything is possible.

We don’t have political will why spend 20 billion in arms if you can use that money to build empire for your kids abroad

Well if there's a political will there's a way. That doesn't mean Bangladesh should pursue military modernization over its own economic development.

Please note! Generation 5 fighters are fundamentally different from previous generations, and buying and using them has completely different requirements. They are more than just the capital cost of buying a fighter jet outright.

1. extremely high maintenance costs.
It is always known that the stealth coatings of 5th generation fighters are very fragile.
Dedicated hangars and regular repainting of the stealth coating is a very large expense.
If we carefully check the maintenance cost of US F-35/F-22, we will find that this money maintenance cost is not within the affordable range of BAF.
2, Tactical significance.
The distance from Dhaka to any location in Bangladesh is not more than 400 KM. the high speed performance (supersonic cruise) of the 5th generation fighters means nothing. Even J-10CE is considered a waste of performance for BAF, JF-17B3 is enough to deal with all threats to BAF.
3. modern advanced military information systems.
Allow me to list an example:
Huawei's latest smartphone. It is the smartphone with the fastest internet speed available. It has satellite calling capabilities. But it can only fully utilize these features in the hands of Chinese users. Because only China has the SkyTalk satellite and only China has the 5.5G communication network. If African users buy it, the satellite call function will be automatically disabled and the communication network can only work in 3G/4G range.
The 5th generation fighter jet is not just a fighter jet, it is also an important port in the modern advanced military information network. It relies heavily on a vast network of advanced military information.
It requires military satellites, early warning aircraft, ground radar stations, tactical command centers ...... Military information equipment, such as military information equipment constitute a huge advanced military information network to provide data support.
If the support of these systems is set aside, the 5th generation fighter is completely inferior to the 4th generation fighter. ------ The design concept of the 5th generation fighter relies on this, and for this reason it discards many of the strong stand-alone capabilities of the 4th generation fighter.

It would not be difficult for most countries to buy 8-10 5th gen fighters. However, there are only a handful of countries that can fully support them properly. PAF will also need to invest extra huge amount of money in upgrading the existing military information systems to be able to use the J-35 properly. otherwise, these J-35s are just a statue purchased by PAF.

News from China is that they’re up for selling j10 to a client in south Asian region.

Could it be Bangladesh? Cuz if it is Pakistan I don’t think they would phrase it like that.

It is Pakistan. Another batch is on order. I don't think any big ticket transactions will occur under the interim government.

No one in US cares that much about BD or India.

It will be a losing battle and hence a waste of money. These Indians (Hindutva) know how to craft a narrative in a democracy in their favor. We simply do not have the numbers against them.

Instead, we can invest in the U.S creating American jobs with investment money sourced from BD and like-minded countries facing similar problems (i.e., unfair practices by some nationals). This way, we can generate grassroots support for our nation's sovereignty and make them think twice before even uttering a word against us.

But these will take time. In the meantime, our air force needs to take every preparation for any situation.

Not true.

And they are about to be empowered like never before.

They are a threat.

Only way is via investment in the U.S as I have suggested.

It is not about economic size. It is More of a matter of Forex reserves which Algeria has plenty thanks to its oil wealth.

Well thought out points here. Personally I don’t see a military need for Bangladesh beyond j10c taking into account that these jets also needs to operate over our waters. EFT, sukhoi etc etc are for better or worse, overkills for bd. Jf17/ gripen etc are exactly the kind of fighters bd needs for effective deterrence

We need to donate funds to US politicians is what I meant. Any issues in US can be dealt with in this manner. There is nothing Hindutva brigade can do about this.

US politicians won’t ever refuse money and not deliver. It is not a case of they will take money from both party and only deliver to the one who paid most.

BD can deflect all attack with some money being consistently spent to cultivate some politicians working for team BD.

I'll tell you a well known “secret”:
Chinese official agencies never release such “ready, possible ......” news. They either don't release any news or it's very official news.

So if you see any of this coming out of China, it must be coming out of some other source outside of China and being relayed by Chinese social media.

That's the case with the vast majority of these types of stories on Chinese social media.
Uh, @Deino's Twitter is one of the major relaying places. Of course, the news on PDF is also a place for them to be relayed ......
