Countries with largest Chinese diaspora population

According to a 2015 presentation by Professor Choi Ho Rim, the contemporary Burmese Chinese are estimated to effectively control approximately 76 percent of the nation's entire economy. In a sense Chinese are still quite wealthy regardless of where they are.

Chinese are always found richer than local population in most of countries of world, similar to ASEAN countries like Malaysia. :coffee:

because unlike the majority of people in Southeast Asia who were traditionally farmers, when the Chinese came to Southeast Asia, they didn’t have any land to start with, and so the only way to survive was by starting up a Business, to find some things that are in demand by the local people and sell. As such, while not all the Chinese were successful in business, those that were became rich and could give out loans to other Chinese newcomers that just came and were aspiring to open up their own business. This is where Chinese clan associations come into play: You see, in Southeast Asia, the Chinese tend to divide themselves by clans based on regional dialects and which home province they originated from. For example, there might be a Teochew association, Cantonese association, Hainanese association, Fujianese association and so on, and these associations were built to help those such as business owners that were in their association, and sometimes to mediate between businesses when there was competition

Myanmar :1.2 million mostly wa people from yunnan.
Cambodia 300-700k
Laos: 200k
Alot of countries are missing they are not doing a good job with research
Sadly, we have lost most of our flourishing Chinese-descent minority. Some people familiar with India know of the very popular cuisine that can best be described as Indian Chinese, with the unique Manchurian sauce, found nowhere else in the world, as a leading feature. So ordering a Gobi Manchurian or a Veg. Manchurian is a very popular option.

A lot of them were forcefully expelled after 1962. Assam & West Bengal (Even Bihar) had a sizeable Indianized Chinese ethnic residents prior to that.

Well Myanmar, when unified under central rule, as it was intermittently from about the 11th century onward, was quite powerful. So was Siam (Thailand), starting a few centuries later.

What do you mean?Toungoo empire: Its early kings Tabinshwehti and Bayinnaung succeeded in reunifying the territories of the Pagan Kingdom for the first time since 1287 and in incorporating the Shan States for the first time, in addition to including Manipur, Chinese Shan States, Siam and Lan Xang(laos). At its peak, the Toungoo Empire was the largest and strongest empire in Southeast Asia

Interestingly, my ancestors (Ahoms in Assam, India) migrated from Möng Mao,
Yunnan in 12th century. Bloodline has integrated with local population in subsequent generations, but core traditions are still followed

It seems to me that you don't know the difference between Chinese empire and Mandala (political model)?

The empire in Indochina are most ethnically diverse countries. How big it is, doesn't matter much, because it's so loose that once the empire collapsed, their influence faded out fast, just like the empire has never existed.

Another example is Rome Empire, you can't rebuild Rome Empire once it collapsed. But the Chinese Empire collapsed, and reborn again and again.

Huge difference!

there are 56 officially recognized ethnic groups in china it just happens that the majority of the population is han Chinese. We absorbed them through conquest and bloodshed. Those empires do exist and ruled by one king so technically they were United at one point in time lol you said upper Myanmar was never ruled by lower Myanmar and I gave u such examples why your answer was wrong lol

I am just saying the difference between Chinese empire and Mandala (political model).

Good or bad, it's your own judgement.

Toungoo dynasty so-called ruling is very different from Chinese empire. 没有改土归流

By Toungoo dynasty term, yes, you are right, the lower Myanmar ruled upper Myanmar.

But on the ground, the local Tusi of upper Myanmar don't give a shit about lower Myanmar. They are self ruled for thousands of years.

Slanted statement in such a way as to make it clear which is which.

Yeah, thanks!
