HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

You should be sick and tired of these empty boasts, with a plethora of specifications but not a single working formation.

I work in engineering, unlike many "analysts" on this forum. I know the challenges they face and I'm well aware of what a product specification means, they aren't "empty boasts".

Looking at that model that'll be displayed, I can gauge the weapons to be integrated. Those are the requirements being specified in that model. It shows the weapons planned to be integrated, all of which (except Tara that I'm not sure of) have been already developed and demonstrated.

ASRAAM - integration with Tejas Mk1A in process
Astra Mk1- integration with Tejas Mk1A done and tested
Astra Mk2- similar to Astra Mk1 integration but new set of captive carry and drop tests will be required as well as new guided firing trials
Rudram 2- to be integrated with Tejas Mk2. Rudram 2 has already been tested from Su-30MKI
Tara- status unclear, but apparently Tejas Mk2 will be integrated with it

Tejas Mk2 first prototype coupling tests have been ongoing. You can be as pessimistic as you want to be and keep ranting, that's your prerogative. But what do you expect them to do? They're assembling the first prototype as we speak. So should they show incomplete assemblies at an Air Show for you to believe they're making progress towards a roll out in 2025?

I look for cues and clues to tell me what the real development status is, and based on my aerospace industry experience, that tells me what the status of that development program is.

And still nothing to show but paper.

Wow ! They will display a model.! Such a great achievement !!

The first prototype is in assembly. What else do you want? They should carry the in assembly prototype and display it there for you?

The program is funded, the first prototype is in assembly and will roll out most likely by third quarter of 2025. That's the status. the model is there to show what the configuration will look like and what weapons are to be integrated with it.

So? It's a funded program, they have deadlines now and they are working towards it. They aren't out there to please people who are just there to sit and rant but have no say in whether the program goes ahead or not. If you aren't happy about the progress made, it really doesn't matter to them. Their stakeholders are the MOD and the IAF and they are fully aware of where the program stands.

Embarrassed 😣

Can somebody tell me when are we inducting the mark1a
When is mark 2 to be unveiled
When will Amca be unveiled

The world is moving to fifth generation fighters I'm taking serious air forces not Nigeria or Myanmar etc

We are currently about one generation behind every body

Embarrassed? About what?

Didn't you know that the first Tejas Mk2 prototype is to be rolled out in third quarter of 2025 or early 2026?

Were you not aware that the CCS clearance for Tejas Mk2 came only in September 2022? Which means that actual funding towards building a prototype only started after that and if they roll out the first prototype by Sep 2025, they'd be meeting the contractual requirements?

Just because you aren't aware of the details, don't shift the blame onto others for not meeting your imaginary needs.

As things stand, AMCA Mk1 prototype assembly will start from 2025 and first prototype roll-out will likely occur in 2026. More details will be available in Feb 2025 at Aero India.

There are plenty of air forces inducting or planning to induct 4.5 gen fighters even now and many others who will continue to use them well in to the 2050s. Including the USAF and RuAF as well as the PLAAF.

The point is simply this - there is nothing but reports of specifications, drawings, and prototypes. No planes, no squadrons, no defences.

All the rest, the 3rd quarter 2025 time-frame, for instance, is stuff that has been seen before, and is boring to contemplate. That is what happened with the original Light Combat Aircraft, a long, dark passage illuminated with glowing newspaper and fan-boy accounts of what was just about to be.

These posts glorifying intangibles are a waste of time.

We have seen dozens of funded programmes, with deadlines, and nothing at the end of it. Engineering farts, nothing solid, or even liquid, just noxious gases.

Of course.

The simplest acquaintance with arithmetic (many engineers know arithmetic, it is a useful branch of knowledge that is highly recommended to fan-boys) shows that the squadron strength has dropped, and has been dropping for a decade now. Meanwhile the MoD and the IAF may do spring-dances around a Maypole, we still have less planes than we need.

Note the love-affair with the future tense.

'...is to be rolled out...'
'...will start...'
'...will likely occur...'
'...will be available...'

Hard core engineering at its best. Wren and Martin being the engineering handbook of choice. Not textbook, handbook, if our hard core social media engineers know the difference.

Then stop responding to such posts. Just stay in your bubble and continue with your rants. Actual developments bore you, not much I can do about it.

Oh, but I love to highlight bullshit.
And bullshitters.
While on the subject, the point of this back and forth is that there is no actual development, just a constant paean of praise to what exists in files and folders and has yet to see the light of day.
