Just noticed the name for Saudi Arabia as "Arabistan". Is that how it's known as in the Persian language and is that since 1979, 1932 or earlier times?

Anyway, I wanted questions please.
  1. Is the Iranian currency Rial or Toman?
  2. What's the difference between the two? (I see both of them being mentioned giving different rates).
  3. Is 1 Rial actually representative of 100,000 Rials? (I think I read it somewhere during the Covid-19 pandemic that some law was passed in this regard).

the complete name in Persian is عربستان سعودی Arabestan-e-Saudi in day to day speak it will be shortened into Arabestan i don't knew about old names but at least in last 100 year its how its written in Persian books.

about your first question , well its complicated on our currency its written as Rial , when you go to market you ask the price in Toman which is 10 Rial . if the economic situation remain as its now our children will use Hemat

about your 3rd question you usually don't do such shortening with rial but with Toman it happen and no its not fixed on 1 Toman equal to 100,000 Toman. it can be 1000 Toman, it can be 100,000 Toman it can be 100,000,000 Toman it all depend on what you are talking about

IOW think of it as:

rials ~ cents
tomans ~ dollars

(10 rials = 1 toman) ~ (100 cents = 1 dollar).
 
The value of the Rial has depreciated by 40% vs USD in the five months since Pezeshkian took office on July 28th 2024
