Chinese 6th Generation Aircraft News & Discussions

I believe the one we saw from Shenyang was the manned aircraft
Why we can be sure it is a manned aircraft: 1. The twin engines are obviously for manned aircraft to board ships; 2. The nose is very wide to fit the cockpit and a large number of sensors/avionics equipment, and the size of the whole aircraft is also huge to expand the volume and increase the ammunition/fuel capacity. It is understandable that there is an unmanned mode, but this is not the typical combat mode of Shenyang. Mass-produced unmanned wingman aircraft do not need such a huge size and twin-engine layout. The design of Shenyang obviously took into account the needs of the navy from the beginning, including the idea of using a variable tail wing, which is obviously aimed at optimizing landing.
This is according to oedosoldier.

hopefully laser too given the size of the aircraft, the power supply must not be a problem.
Three engines with a 185 kn each, it’s possible but only with a decent energy management system to power a laser system, and still power all other sensors and maintain flight. But will it be defensive or offensive? What kind of range are we expecting needed?

A HK-DAS against enemy BVR missiles is possible, but should an enemy fighter get within WVR range, it may be more effective to send drone swarms to fight the hostile fighter with BVR AND WVR missiles.

The Shenyang one is huge compared to j-16. I wasn't wrong when I said it looks as big as a flanker
Looks similar to the GCAP concept from Britain but with canards. If it is for the carrier, it looks to be the right size to be a decent replacement for the J-15T and allow the Type 004 to carry an all stealth fighter force.

The three engines means it's built for speed. By comparison, S-70 has only one engine and is subsonic.

@NGAD IS THE BEST

Personally, I think J-40 would have sounded better than J-36. It's too mouthful.

Don't rush to conclusion yet about the size and the missions because from the info I collected on weibo through credible accounts that SAC model has both navy carrier and airforce version, the one everybody see flying is the loyal wing man version, manned version coming soon.

What I noticed is it's always the Chengdu that comes up with a huge machine, just imagined the upgrade potential of this plane, I just love it.
ofc, the SAC three verison models is also sweet.

What is J-40? your imaginary Chinese 7th gen jet lol

USAF asked for around $20 billion to be spent in next 5 years to develop NGAD (manned) and another $10 billion for its unmanned CCAs

Too big to be unmanned

10 then 20 then 40. You just multiply by 2 every time. It's simple.
what you're trying to say? i don't understand your gibberish, there is no official designations for both prototypes/demonstrators so far, so don't create your own (gibberish) names for both prototypes/demonstrators lol

I think the j-36 will be in service sooner than we all think. The FC-31/J-35 took longer because initially it was a private initiative by Shenyang, so it didnt really have much interests by the PLA until the PLAN reworked it for carrier ops. 2032 seems like a good estimation time tbh
