Pakistan UAVs News & Discussions

Silly question but can we not just build Shahpar 2 and 3s?

Why do we need a significant number of drone is the question.

We have no actual conventional use for drones. Both PA and PAF only really need them for COIN ops, the PN could have some actual use, but in their current form, they arent any good in a conventional conflict.

Victory belongs to the believers....

Scenario#1: Regime Change in Kabul
  • Complete shutdown of comms via drones and land based system
  • Take out every hostile elements with 24/7 drones coverage all over Afghanistan
  • Get to Kabul, publicly hang the leaders, and put your "favorite" nutjobs in the power
  • Within 5 years they'll become slaves of Bharat, so repeat the above steps
Scenario#2: Liberation of IOK
  • PAF ensures an "If there were Rafales" within a couple of hours
  • Every AD, armored formation, artillery, command center, logistics, ammo depot etc. all along the border become a done deal, thanks to EW/EA corridors opened for meticulous drone attacks (Ukraine in steroid)
  • Layered AD along with "escalation ladder" keeps the wide-spread missile usage at the bay
  • All the bunkers in the IOK are busted. Not even an ant can move as it gets picked up by a drone
  • Move your force, under the coverage of drones, till the entire IOK gets liberated and secured
  • Nobody has entered into our territory, nor have we lost any- top leader in Delhi

Yep. The vast number of types might give the wrong idea to folks, but these Predator-style UAVs are niche weapon systems. As I said earlier, the real workhorse drone would be attritable loyal wingman UCAVs, which can be used effectively in conventional ops, such as deep-strike (with minimal regard to losing said airframes since they're lower cost and easier to replace than a crewed platform).

I wouldn't hold my breath.
the thing that pisses me off is that when revealed back in 2023, GIDS said that first flight will be in Dec 3rd 2023 but that did not happen, fast forward IDEAS 2024 and the thing is still in R&D, I understand the R&D takes time and money but why are they marketing it so aggresivly when the drone isn't even in air?

To seem busy and relevant. I was skeptical the moment I saw how big it was compared to its predecessor. Pakistan has never built an airframe of such complexity on its own.
