HAL LCA Tejas: Updates, News & Discussions

What a wonderful echo chamber it has become. Last year when the CAS was praising the same jet, I haven’t seen anyone of these usual suspects posting about it. But now, within minutes.

Now these usual suspects coming up with their gyaan. But alas, it is what it is.

Well Instead of dwelling on the current challenges facing the Indian Air Force (IAF), let's consider a different approach.

While this approach may necessitate some compromise on the 'Make in India' concept and require to take a stand (which India had taken till now) on Indian sovereign decisions, it might be crucial to adapt to current realities, as it may already be too late. China is now in a different league, and Pakistan, with definite access to advanced Chinese technology (atleast 2nd line tech), may soon surpass India if the situation doesn't improve.

Given India's current position, why not leverage Russian support (as China did in the past), especially if the US is proving unreliable? (Those who doubt can keep smoking what they are smoking right now.)

India could capitalize on Russia's current financial constraints. By investing in Russia, which desperately needs funds, India could negotiate favorable terms for advanced military technology, potentially including a deal for a 5th-generation fighter similar to the SU-30 agreement, but with local production line with enhanced terms and greater Indian control over improvement, modifications and replacements. This strategy could provide India with a significant 5th-generation capability by 2030.

Simultaneously, By investing some good amount India sould partner in the Franco-German FCAS program right now, even as a junior partner, even without access to few critical technologies but with local production lines (initially through knock-down kit assembly). This investment could greatly accelerate FCAS development and benefit India sooner.

De-emphasize the Tejas/AMCA program. Focus on increasing the number of SU-30s as much as possible and improving it's capabilities until 2030 to bridge the capability gap. Acquire SU-57 & SU-75 in significant numbers throughout the 2030s. Subsequently, transition towards the FCAS program in the 2040s. Invest in indigenous drone capabilities, similar to Turkey, and acquire them in large numbers for low-level operations and peace time Jobs.

This approach would significantly enhance Indian capabilities beyond what is currently planned till 2040-50.

What you stated is common sense. But Modi is more interested in pump up the Indian crowd on everything, including defense production to show case Indian achievements. Especially in light of China’s advancement.

So what you hear from many Indians online is to double down on its own fighter program such as AMCA and engineer development. I also saw a video about how India should now make AMCA a six generation fighter with indigenous Indian engines. I assume the new program would be VAMCA, with V stand for very, to distinguish from fifth generation AMCA, which succeeded the fourth generation MCA. This is because the program is used by Palki to hype up the crowd than actually building something.

In my opinion, for India to field a fifth or six generation fighter, follow your advice should be a no brainer. But that is not the agenda of the Indian leadership.

You should immediately correct the mistaken impressions of the rest of the world, and make the true state of matters clear to everyone.

Why should it matter to the rest of the world? It should matter to us only, or are you considering yourself part of that world?

Further, when far more knowledgeable people than me failed or silenced, then expecting from me to clear the air is foolishness.

I DO beg your pardon. I thought your homily was delivered ex cathedra, as it were, in some sort of exclusion defence of the current position.

More knowledgeable.....?????
NO.

...which is now facing depleted squadron numbers.

The news of the Fourth Line shows that IAF is pleased with the Final MK 1A with AESA radar and other improvements

And that , the follow on 97 plane order will also be placed after the present order of 83 MK 1A planes are delivered

Anyway , we are finally coming to the End of a long struggle

Both MK 1 Trainers which are left to delivered ie 3 Trainers from the earlier 40 Mk 1 ordered
and MK 1A can be made concurrently

Mk 1A is a very capable plane with SCORPIUS GaN Aesa Jammer and Elta 2052 AESA radar

The indigenous AESA radar and Jammer will be installed in the 41st plane

There are other improvements too from the MK 1 , you can Google it or watch Youtube videos

Right now all 40 MK1 not delivered.
Right now MK1A doesn't exist in reality.

Little off-topic, but in reality:

Pakistani Forces have interfered in governmental matters, leading to the erosion of the governmental system.

The Indian Government has interfered in the affairs of the Indian Armed Forces, resulting in the deterioration of their effectiveness.

You are unfortunately very accurate.

It seems, in terms of private opinion, that the further steps of the Indian core autocracy rooted in the Doab would be to weave the military into their socio-political organisations, giving them a military strength out of reach of other political parties and movements. There is scope for them to strengthen themselves and to build stronger, more robust structures.

Where they may fall is in process, and in the impatience with their economically clueless and deception-shrouded economic reporting. Risks that they have already shown they are prepared to confront to achieve the aims of the RSS.
