I personally don't believe the US would allow turkey to move kaan production to Pakistan based on the fact that it has close ties with china. Until kaan domestic engine starts serial production, all those dreams can only be dream unfortunately the question is would china allow ws-10c to be equipped on kaan. It would require modifications in order to install a different engine. China turkey relation is not sunshine at all so I doubt china would allow it's own engine to be equipped on kaan.
Most likely China will require Stealth aircraft for the impending conflict with the US and NATO and China will be requiring and reserving more aircraft. China wouldn't be able to supply sufficient number of aircraft to Pakistan. So Pakistan is looking for an alternate source. Pakistan and China are iron clad brothers it is not a question of not being able to depend on China.
Pakistanis and Turks: Let's use China's WS-10
Chinese: Has anyone informed me in advance? Did I say I agreed????
That's all the problem.
People need to stop using RANDOM twitter sites run by children as a source of information, or place any trust in them!!!![]()
Bro, the US can drown in its tears. The US has absolutely no authority over Türkiye. This is an entirely Turkish domestic project. In fact KAAN too is an incarnation of US meddling. KAAN is essentially a big middle finger to the US.
Türkiye is busy testing and building its own powerplant and has made brilliant progress. Down the road KAAN will be fitted with a domestic engine. This is when KAAN and probably other Turkish fighters will enter service into PAF. The stage has been set. No one can stop Pakistan Türkiye cooperation. Absolutely no one. The hunger for defence cooperation between Pakistan and Türkiye is huge.
Realistically KAAN is not coming to Pakistan till the mid to late 2030s, mainly due to engine issues.
Best case scenario is that it is fitted with Turkish engine but more likely it will have the Chinese WS-10C as by the mid-2030s it will be a 2 generation old engine by then(ACE > WS-15> WS-10C).
People underestimate just how difficult it is to manufacture a fighter turbofan engine, let alone 5th generation. Turkey has never designed and built a fighter jet engine from scratch and vastly experienced Russia has still not put the final engine for SU-57 into mass production.
Pakistan isn’t in a hurry. Luckily time is on Pakistan’s side. J-35 is set in stone. It will come into service in the coming years. Inducting the J-35 into PAF's ecosystem will require time and effort. The J-35 is essential for PAF to train its pilots and gain insight/experience in 5th gen air combat. By the time KAAN is ready for induction into the PAF the ground work would have been fully laid.
J-35A will come late 2020s and KAAN maybe from mid-2030s for PAF.
BD will also have a similar timetable for induction of both jets but probably 2-3 years behind Pakistan.
KAAN will get export sales in Pakistan, BD, Azerbaijan and many other Muslim countries. It will sell in the hundreds overseas and that will massively help Turkey with recouping a lot of the development cost and getting cost of production down for each plane.
Both China and then Turkey will destroy the western stranglehold on cutting-edge fighter planes within the next 5-10 years.
