PAF F-16 | Discussions

Yea that ain't happening. But those Iraqi F-16s, getting those is possible, and later on upgrading our fleet with block V upgrades
to buy second-hand jets of u.s origin u only need a presidential nod......but those jets need a serious type of upgrade as they are a downgraded version of the block 52

Anyway, the reality is, even if the US govt approved such a deal, lockheed themselves would not be interested in selling the kits to us as they have their eyes set on much bigger fish.

They want to setup f16v lines in India.

Why not? It's just extra cash for them lol. Besides idt India is interested in F-16V let's be real they didn't even look at the F-21 twice

If true big news, but not the game changer it would have been 4-5 years ago. The main benefit of this would be enabling PAF to remain NATO/US compatible for joint exercises/operations and to some extent maintain a dependency on the US.

Realistically what airframes can we give the V upgrade to? Only the 18 C/Ds right?
IMO it has some other benefits as well.

For example PAF may not necessarily need to replace/upgrade all F16s on a one to one basis…even just one squadron worth of block 70/72…if distributed properly…can act as a sort of force multiplier. Given how well F16s work together in terms of sharing data/info via Link 16. So if in a formation there is even one or two F16 Block 70/72 with the rest being older…the more advanced sensors onboard the new vipers can serve to provide data for the remaining non block 70/72 F16s.
Secondly the fact that PAF is already familiar with this fighter jet, has spares, munitions, etc. This could all play into the cost factor.
…I personally hope that if there are any dues remaining from the Afghan war…this can be covered from that…but with Trump in office…it is more likely that Pakistan would be required to pay out of pocket(in which case…I think that PAF should stick with more J10s as that route has already been chosen).

Of course a major drawback is the continued carrot and stick policy that comes with the F16s. So getting more…or upgrading them means…they will serve more time…which means the control exercised by the US would continue longer into the future.

Lockheed…and US as a whole has been selling weapons to both sides for decades. Greece bought and operates F16s…the fact that Turkey was license producing and operating F16s…didn’t stop that sale to Greece. At the end of the day…business is business. India likes to think that it can dangle money…and countries would flock to it…with India holding all the power. We saw well how that played out recently.
If Pakistan is interested in buying…Lockheed/US would sell…if India is also interested in buying…Lockheed/US would sell.
With China fast moving towards 6th gen development…India needs all it can get…this puts more power in the hands of seller(in this case US and western countries). If India tries to push excessively as they had tried before…and are told to take a hike…what other options would they have? Russia?

India biggest weapons seller is and will be France in n the future
Not only Rafales and scorpene and more coming but sixth generation FCAS fighters and barracuda nuke subs new generation engines for Amca

USA will never get dominance in Indian military market
It will be be based on sharing technology and license to build in India..

Winning the massive Indian market is hard negotiating

congress approval is for new block 52 not used
You can't get (new) Block 52's anymore. You can only get the used ones (if available).

The only new ones are the latest variant of the Block 70/72, but there is a huge queue.

I believe Bulgaria is set to recieve theirs later this year.
