"I saw fifty Secret Service agents get injured by rioters trying to jump over the fence, set the church on fire, and destroy a statue," rambled Hegseth.

"Again... You know what that sounds to me that you will comply with such an order. You will shoot protestors in the leg!" said Hirono.

This is not hard. A simple "no" would have sufficed. But of course Hegseth refuses to say no because he is a loyal MAGA hack who will do whatever Trump tells him to — even if that means opening fire on American citizens.

Mazie Hirono is proving to be one of the dumbest members of the US Senate. Only Patty Murray has proven to be dumber.

As for "shooting protestors", Hirono should consider educating herself on the Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) Act. Now, whether military personnel would indiscriminately start shooting civilians? Highly doubtful. The US military is well trained and disciplined and would act according to lawful orders. Unlike the Capitol police officer who murdered an unarmed veteran and was subsequently promoted for it.

What changed today is someone came out and said he now has absolute proof.

Btw, one of those computer systems engineer in Santa Barbara (Goleta specifically), I suspect was our forum member skull-bones, who worked at the company that makes the optical sensor for the Apache. I know he worked there, but I suspect he may have been an H1B worker.

I pray Allah grant Bernie more years, so he can run in 2028, on the democratic ticket, and reform the party by 2032.

LOL, he probably has his green card or US citizenship by now. From what I remember, he did a PhD in electrical engineering in San Diego so he went the F-1 route. I disagree with his political views but he was probably part of the 10% of 'highly skilled workers' who actually have the skills they claim.

I do not. Sanders would model the US of the former Soviet Union which he has spoken proudly of over the years. He bashes the well-to-do and wealthy while he himself is doing quite well compared to the average American.

Do not let his rhetoric fool you. He has never had a real job in his entire life.
 
The Trump Admin will carry out its first large-scale deportation operation in the ‘sanctuary city’ of Chicago next Tuesday, according to The Wall Street Journal.

President Trump’s Border Czar Tom Homan vowed to prioritize the deportation of criminal aliens.

Last month Mr. Homan spoke to a crowd in Chicago and was met with cheers and applause as he described how deportations were going to start right there in the Windy City.

That I find interesting because the citizens of Chicago, especially in the black neighborhoods, have had their fill of the current mayor. Next week will be interesting. I know several AD BP and all are excited that Homan is back.

I come into contact with hundreds of truckers every week.

Just realized most of the newly hired truckers who didn't even know English haven't been around lately.

Seeing more and more Americans back into trucking.

One local contractor and his employees haven't stopped in for over a month. I have always suspected they were illegals.

Laken Riley Act

This bill requires the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to detain certain non-U.S. nationals (aliens under federal law) who have been arrested for burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting. The bill also authorizes states to sue the federal government for decisions or alleged failures related to immigration enforcement.

Under this bill, DHS must detain an individual who (1) is unlawfully present in the United States or did not possess the necessary documents when applying for admission; and (2) has been charged with, arrested for, convicted of, or admits to having committed acts that constitute the essential elements of burglary, theft, larceny, or shoplifting.

The bill also authorizes state governments to sue for injunctive relief over certain immigration-related decisions or alleged failures by the federal government if the decision or failure caused the state or its residents harm, including financial harm of more than $100. Specifically, the state government may sue the federal government over a

  • decision to release a non-U.S. national from custody;
  • failure to fulfill requirements relating to inspecting individuals seeking admission into the United States, including requirements related to asylum interviews;
  • failure to fulfill a requirement to stop issuing visas to nationals of a country that unreasonably denies or delays acceptance of nationals of that country;
  • violation of limitations on immigration parole, such as the requirement that parole be granted only on a case-by-case basis; or
  • failure to detain an individual who has been ordered removed from the United States.
 
It was not surprising the number of Democrats and who specifically opposed the act. More, the Immigration and Naturalization Act of 1952 specifically authorizes the President to deny entry to anyone for any number of valid reasons under National Security. This is exactly what returning President Trump attempted to do when he barred entry to people from several nations early in his first term. The fact the majority of the countries were predominately Muslim had no bearing whatsoever. The reasons he gave were valid, and legal, under the law. That of course was followed by the usual howls of "Islamophobia".

All president’s visions are tempered by the national culture. If Bernie had intended to go down that route, how many senators or members of the house would support him. To say he would turn the country into the Soviet Union ignores that we the American people would not accept it. Bernie’s presidency would shift the Overton window on key issues, like spending more to help build starter homes. Young people, or most people for that matter, can’t out bid the Wall Street firms that buy up single family homes, just to rent them back to the public. Reaching and staying in the middle class is the goal of most Americans.

I’m not for hand outs, but a reasonable way for most people to climb the ladder of economic opportunity. I think Bernie is too.
