She is completely defenseless!

The boats are peace time boats. They aren’t meant to be used during wartime.

At least this IRIN version is based on a warship (Mowj). Western ones look like cruise ships and are massive. And IRGC ones are just converted tankers.

This ship is a high value target and we have the possibility of an all out extra regional war on the horizon. This ship needs a CIWS and a short range SAM preferably of the vertical launch variety we have seen on the new IRGC catamarans and the Air defence speed boats for self defence.

The importance of this area as the country's largest naval base in the sector of providing maritime security, especially in the field of sea-based economy.

The equipment assigned to this area is in three areas: surface, subsurface and unmanned and manned flight.

In addition to the pond and mooring docks for vessels, this marine area definitely needs repair categories, and today the repair factories of this area are starting to work.

Also, all the headquarters and operational areas are starting to work in this area, and it has been possible for all areas related to the sea to be deployed in the security sector, including ranger brigades, electronic warfare units, and cyber areas.

From top to down of the foremast, IMO;

1º.- TACAN antenna (for aproximation and landing helicopters)
2º.- Passive Radar?, ESM?
3º.- ESM with directional antennas similar to Cutlass/Cygnus UAF-1, which is a ESM system capable of working in very high dense electromagnetic environment, capable of tracking and bearing signals. It is passive and it is designed to classificate and record signals for libraries.
4º.- Side antennas would be directional antennas of VHF

4º.- Side antennas would be directional antennas of VHF Yagi type seems for VHF and 5.8 GHZ parabolic directional antenna (covering a wide radio spectrum with both).
5º.- Satcom for telephone.
6º.- Two radars X band. It is curious why Zagros doesn´t fit S band radar, maybe for avoiding interferences.

By the way, nearly all intelligence gathering ships aren´t armed. Oste class (Germany) Alerta (Spain) and Dupuy de Lome (France) aren´t armed, at much, two machine guns. And it is not a coincidence, some of them like french one, are white painted, like Zagros.

It’s an ISR vehicle.

Its sole purpose is to spy on enemy and learn how it thinks, moves, and conveys its signals for wartime. They utilize international waters/air space during peace time to get as close to the enemy so they can use their instruments to spy. So it will likely follow carrier groups and other battleships to spy on them. During war there is no way in hell it can get close to any enemy even if it had weapons on board. It’s not made for wartime.

It’s no different than the concept of Embassies which have traditionally been spy dens for countries to gain intel on the host country. You wouldn’t expect to protect an embassy if you went to war with the host country would you?

These aren’t war fighting vehicles any more than slapping A2A missiles on a U2 spy plane or Blackbird or SIGNIT plane. These planes fly/flew defenseless.

The IRGC vessels you mentioned are war fighting sea vessels. This is not. Hence why it’s painted white. It signals that it’s a non combat ship. Sinking it could be considered a war crime. Just like sinking a supply ship or hospital ship.

Besides the usual insults on Iranian capabilities it's relatively informative
