Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

I also saw it in Yemen many times. it has no military utility only good against civilian ships (even then the ships are getting smarter or will be heavily escorted in times of war)
With the attacks of a large number of drones, navy ships can also be hit

Google maps has also actualized ISOICO shipyards site
The resolution it is also enough good for guessing some advancements.

At dry dock it is Sahand under reconstruction. It is a reconstruction as you can see two pedestal at the stern for the firing system and a CIWS (Kamand?) for it, in a similar layout than Alvand class. In front of the funnel it is suggesting by the shadow that solid mast we saw in a news site. And still fitted the FCR for the naval Mersad system it was equipped and the Fajr-27. Those changes, specially repositioning the CIWS system at the stern, can help to lower the gravity center and give some more stability to the ship. It is also visible over the helipad, a lot of equipment probably heavy cable rolls and openings to reach easier the machine room. So the good news are that she would return to combat condition in no more than a year and a half.

At the west of the complex, it is also visible a Bandar Abbas class Supply ship under heavy maitenance. It is clear visible openings over the deck to have access to lower decks for overhauling.

But unfortunately at the east side of the shipyard it is also clearly visible the storaged hull of Taftan. In reality some upper works have been done, but the hull can be storaged there for a year or even more. It is really dissapointing. Hope IRIN re-start soon their works on she, because general arrangement it is similar to Deylaman that would allow a good phased array radar integrated mast.

Now it is clearly visible that big pressure hull we saw before. Enough big to build around it a Besat class submarine. But that pressure hull have been built at least 2 or even 3 years ago and seems clearly storaged also. That should suggest that the incoming submarines would be Fateh class.

Good news are also the three Kaman/Sina class under heavy maintenance or fitting out. That it is a proof of the dedicated attention paid to the fleet that would suggest a high operativity or combat readiness of the rest of the fleet.

@sahureka2 I would like to know your oppinion and good eye about whatever you can see!

Great review of the images,
I would just like to contribute with my hypothesis regarding the Sahand.
I don't think they intend to move the CIWS to the extreme stern of the ship, also because the use of the helicopter deck would be lost, to confirm this, looking at the photos from a few months ago and when the Sahand was still sailing only one of those superstructures is the one where the CIWS is positioned, the other supports an optonic aiming system + it had a predisposition for something that had not yet been installed,

therefore as you can also see in this other photo,

those superstructures were dismantled and positioned aft only to carry out work in the compartments below

thanks. what is the Sina class submarine? I know about Russian Kilo (1200 ton), midget Ghadir (100 ton class), Fateh (600 ton class), and upcoming Besat and one strange Nahang submarine. never heard about Sina class.

Hope so, because you´re right. It would nullify the Helipad. The side opening are suggesting major overhaul or even replacement of big parts of engines. That is great and means she would be completely renewed.

Sina class are the indigenous evolution of Kaman class FAC. They show some improvements over the legacy Kaman. Fire control radar and Fath CIWS at stern the most obvious. IRIS Zereh P235 it is the last addition. They´re the backbone of the IRIN surface fleet right now. And in ISOICO you can see three of them being overhauled, at least one of them with engines replacement. That means that IRIN is being methodical in their maintenance and suggest a good combat readiness of the rest of the fleet.

I thought you were talking about a submarine, now I understand
