PAF Future Acquisition Plans

does your Establishment consider implication of having 2 types of 5th Gen fighters on Pakistan's economy or they just buy and say “Bhad mein jao sab”
Our air force thinks 100 x before buying. J35s will be bought first and KAAN will come after 2035s so that is a decade away, F16s will be phased out. We understand it's more expensive to operate 5th generation but our economy will also be better.

KAAN is still in development, the final plane with a powerful engine will be 5th generation plane. And why would Turkey build another 4th generation plane when they operate f16s and will soon upgrade them to 4.5th generation.
Rear aspect stealth is not present even with Chinese fighters. As of now, there are only 2 true stealth fighter jets in the world. F-22 and F-35

Noone can touch Usa technology, even the 4th generation planes are not close the the Americans but we still call them 4th generation. I understand your point 👍

i wonder why you all seem to think having a second FGFA will use up hundreds of billions of dollars... They're maintenance intensive, not financially crippling...

Maintaining two stealth fighter jets is not that big of a deal or an issue. India exaggerates it to cover their own incompetent Government machinery. We suck in all other sectors but here we are doing good.

one of the reason is while going through one youtube video of Mr. Mansoor Ali Khan (television anchor) was of opinion that India can't afford a 5th Gen fighters financially.

in such a case then, I was wondered, how come a country with 70+ billion $ defense budget can't afford a 5th Gen fighter where as Pakistan with total budget of 67 billion $ can afford 2 types of 5th Gen fighters.

for past 2 decades I am hearing that "Pakistan economy will also be better" if you compare Pakistan economy with its neighbors, just like Passport Pakistan above Afghanistan only.

Pakistan economy in PPP.
2023 - 1.347 Trillion
2024 - 1.493 Trillion
2025 - 1.580 Trillion

We will be around 2.1 Trillion economy by 2030s.

Yes we are suffering in nominal economy data.

That was my opinion, why do you think otherwise ?

considering J-35 is Chinese 5th gen fighter which will be cheaper and lesser maintenance oriented compared to western counterparts and also financially viable due to Chinese support to Pakistan.

but KAAN ? considered to be one of the most expensive and unlike US, Russian or Chinese KAAN will be Turkeys first Manned jet.

any basis to either of your claims?

So what? If KAAN is good enough and Pakistan needs it to replace F16s then we will buy it. 60 KAAN jets will give us great firepower. We are looking at 15 years away when F16s will need retirement, J35s will be bought to replace older Jf17s and an upgrade to J10CEs.

which part ? Chinese plane cheaper or Turkish costlier ?

I don't think you will have any doubts about J-35 will be cheaper than Checkmate. But regards to KAAN its a 100 Million $ Fighter and end product will be costlier as sole buyer is Turkey unless Pakistan buys it.

KAAN will be fully ready with its local engine by 2035 (as alleged). Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Pakistan, Azerbaijan, Qatar are some of its potential customers. Turkey is also working hard to bring other nations on board to reduce the cost, move manufacturing to other nations for cheaper labour. If the above doesn't happen then I agree it will be expensive buy.

its not about ability of Turkish aerospace or KAANs firepower its about cost of plane.

Do you know why after 36 Rafale, India yet to decide on 114 fighters or Pakistan took so long to buy 36 J-10s ? its $$$$ or Cost of each Fighters.

unlike procurements like Su-30s or Mig-29 and F-16s or JF-17s, where price tag are around 30-40 million $. 5th Gen fighters of western countries will be way above 100 million $$ price tag, which we southern Asian countries can't afford.

60 KAANs will be approximate $ 8-12 Billions, how do you expect Pakistan to finance it ? when PAF buys J-35s GoP can expect China will & can provide it at subsidized rate and will be provided at a long term loan & maintained by Chinese will Turkey provide that.

Yes, unless more nations not join, KAAN will be costly and that's the reason many European nations joining hands together to build 6th Gen Fighter jets

but points to be remembered is 6th Gen fighter jets like NGAD, GCAP & FCAS are having same timeline of 2035 and 5th Gen KAAN is also expected on same time line will not that hinder Turkeys plans to add more partners ?
