" Russian and Ukrainian are not the same language, although they are both Slavic languages and share a common root, meaning they have many similarities, but also distinct differences in vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar, with Ukrainian having its own unique alphabet within the Cyrillic script; essentially, they are considered "cousin" languages with significant differences between them. "So is Ukrainian and Russian writing. Cantonese and Mandarin are as much different languages as Ukrainian and Russian. They are totally unintelligible.
Their languages are different and so are their writings, There is only one Chinese writing for Mandarin, Cantonese and other dialects.
