the US agrees to dropping unreasonable demands. unacceptable to Ukraine.
now Ukraine will sign off the deal.

Ukraine will give large parts of natural resources, rare earths, access to sea and airports to the US in exchange for security guarantees and military assistance of hundreds of billions USD.

seems the dumb ex spy Putin offers too little.

They were without US help since April 2024. As I said, no aid bill passed since April 17, 2024.

The issue here is, can Russia be put into a position that they can dictate term in a talk, currently there are no position to talk, I mean would you be surrendering your country demand if the enemy just manage to take 20% (again, 11 of those are pe-occupied before the war) would you concede anything to your enemy when they manage small progress in the last 3 years?

The key to the matter is can Ukraine ride out the next 4 years for Trump's term to end or 2 years if Dem retake both houses, to negotiate a better condition, at this point Russia is not a threat big enough to dictate term, again, realistically the only thing Russia can ask at this point are two things if there is a talk.

1.) Exchange Kursk with other occupied region outside Donbass (so exchange Kursk with Kharkiv Salient, Kherson south of Dnieper river and the rest of Zaporizhya

2.) Ukraine to vacate Donbass and Russian take them all.

1 is reasonable, Ukraine can say screw you and come and take it for 2

You can't go ask Ukraine to drop NATO bid if you have issue taking Donbass, because that had to threaten the Ukrainian Administration directly to do it. Nor can you ask for an administration change when you only manage to take 20% of a country.

I don't know what will happen in the next 4 years, (or 2), but at this point, it's a fact that there is no point to talk.

Instead of telling me I am very bad in economics. Tell me what I said is wrong, otherwise it is not going to be true just because you said so.

that doesn't sound like any demands were 'dropped' but a new clause was added. I think we have to wait for more details before we say 'key demands were dropped'.

May as well just throw that security "agreement" right in the garbage then. Clearly didn't work out too well since the previous security "agreement" was ratified.

I believe the old deal (the one confirmed by media) is doing this in reverse, first the 500 billions material guarantee then talk about security guarantee.

That was dropped in exchange of Security Guarantee first, then the talk of Percentage later.. Also, Ukraine require a low by bill, that mean Congress would need to vote for it

I believe the "agreement" is for Congress to pass a bill to officailly sign that agreement into law.

Essentially this become a trade, US get whatever percentage of REM from Ukraine, and Ukraine get a guaranteed deal in multiple year term.

There was a security agreement included with the Budapest Memorandums.
