The hypocrisy of far too many Jews on the matter of immigration becomes astonishingly evident when one discovers just how determined Israeli Jews are in heavily securing their own borders. Has the Israeli government ever been as laxed as the former Biden administration when it comes to immigration? Hardly. They very much protect their borders and thereby their own people from foreign invaders or immigrants from other ethnic groups. This is perfectly reasonable on the part of Israel’s government, and they do not view it as ‘xenophobic’ or ‘racist’ in the least. It also reveals a wise strategy on their part to protect and preserve their people, their cultural values and the safety of future generations. Thus, the very thing that many Jews rightly want for Israel, they deny to America when it comes to immigration enforcement.

The student loan program has been a racket for decades.

When i graduated you had like an 18 month grace period before your first payment was due.

I happened to have had some money saved after I graduated and I attempted to pay some of my ELSI loan off early. When i called them up to figure out how to make a payment they said I couldn't. They said I had to wait the full 18 months

I then drove to their office personally to given them my money...and they weren't happy about it. Any talk of these programs as being a "help" to students is BS. They finally accepted an early payment from me (saying nobody ever did it before Well i knew interest was accruing during the "grace" period and I wasn't going to get suckered for 1.5 years)

ALL loan are the same, they don't want you to pay off early, because that's how they earn money, from making interest payment. That's why they don't want you to finish the course early, because they made less money that way

In Australia, you can choose to pay off a loan early (In full or in part), but you will need to pay a "Penalty Rate" for it, usually about 30-50% of what it might have been if you complete the loan. So say if you borrow 500,000 for a house for 10 years with 5.9%, you will ended up paying around 670,000 by the end of your loan, if you pay early, you may need to pay anywhere from 600,000 - 620,000 total.

Student loan in Australia is another thing. You don't actually make repayment of HECS loan, it was deducted from your tax return, and if you don't pay tax or your tax is lower than the income threshold, you pay nothing.

I got squat to pay for my degree in US as that was on Uncle Sam.

Mortgages have penalty for paying early for a reason. Thats how they make money.

Yeah I heard from my co-workers how much they owe in Student debt, its crazy that despite paying for years their loan is still massive. As for institution buying property not sure about that.

The worst part is that its one of the debt that does not go away in bankruptcy. They lure kids in at their most vulnerable -- when they are making a college decision and then the kids are stuck with that loan.

Here in Canada they have these open term loans which can be paid off without penalty and there are term renewal date when you can pay as much as you want to pay off the loan. I used those.
