Pakistan Airlines Leases London Heathrow Slots to Saudia for Summer 2025 https://aviationa2z.com/index.php/2...lines-leases-london-heathrow-slots-to-saudia/
Don't be sad by this this was part of a recent reshuffle:

Good business sense for once by PIA.

More here:

Even titans such as BA have not been left unscathed. So If this nets Pakistan actual £££/$$$ its a good decision.

Ghazi bhai we sold almost new only 4 years old dozen or so DC-10’s for 15 year old 747’s in the scam of the decade!

Begherat PIA management per lanat.

That was a very smart decision by the PIA, given the service records of these DC-10 and 747 models. PIA's goal at the time was standardization with the leased 747s that PIA was already operating.

The 747 deliveries to Canada started in Nov 1973 and the DC-10 deliveries to Pakistan started in Feb 1974. They were traded in 1985 making them both around 11 years old. 4 DC-10s were traded for 4 747s, not dozens. The 747-200s were a fair bit more expensive than the DC-10-30s. Whatever difference in value there was, would have been made in payments by PIA to the Canadians. This was done during that "golden age of PIA" you guys can't seem to forget.

Every Pakistani issue -> a willfully uneducated and/or dishonest hollering contest sprinkled generously with colorful language.

Oh bhai, in the history of our airline, we never made a decision based on commercial/ national interest. We instead did it for political machinations/ maneuvering and personal benefit.

Same story with PR or PSM.....or KPT or you name it.

What dishonest uneducated hollering?

Are you aware of the A330 and B-777 scandals?

Do you see the condition of our airline today?

No use deflecting. The country is how it is, because of its addiction to self-placating and other-implicating lies. Learn to learn, accept, and acknowledge the truth.

The CP Air-PIA trade was brilliant. It served PIA and Pakistan very well for many years. PIA's current condition, its past failures, your feelings, my hair color, and what Chacha Mushtaq said, have no bearing on it.

Surprisingly, the report mentions that the government privatised seven loss-making SOEs in January 2025. While the case of the privatisation of PIA is no mystery to anyone, it is clear that the current government has not completed any privatisation transaction.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has launched an investigation after a flight, PK 306, traveling from Karachi to Lahore, landed at Allama Iqbal International Airport without one of its wheels.

A PIA spokesperson stated that the issue was discovered during an inspection following the flight's landing at the airport, revealing that one of the rear tires was missing.

Sources revealed that despite over 14 hours passing since the flight's arrival, the missing tire has not been found at either Karachi or Lahore airports.

Reports indicate that the tire was present when the plane took off from Karachi, and the aircraft made a normal landing and taxied at Lahore airport. After receiving a notification from Lahore's Air Traffic Control (ATC), a part of the tire shaft was located at Karachi airport.

@ghazi52

Ghazi sb,

It could have been worse- the plane could have taken off with one its wings missing.

Regards

Hoping they reopen the UK route soon. Cant stand changing planes in Duba/Doha and also even though PIA's biz product is not great compared to the Big 3 GCC, it is good value for money. So tired of stop overs

BA flies direct. better than a stopover in middle east

I would imagine if Bahria Town company (35 Billon USD operation) was not harassed and owner chased out of country, I would imagine someone with that purchasing power would have easily bough the PIA operations for 2 Billion USD and made it profitable

In a idealistic , Elon Musk kind of way
