Here's the bigger play at hand, and why there is only token pushback to DOGE.
You cut enough spending - even if it's all grift and fraud - you eventually get a recession, guaranteed.
That's all Congress is waiting for cause then they use the "emergency" to vote through a far greater spending package ("will someone please think of all the unemployed") one which eclipses all of DOGE's spending cuts.
What Musk is doing in trying to streamline the govt is admirable but ultimately it will be Congress that decides the endgame. And there things are as status quo as always.

You are going to love this. I was hired by the City of Detroit's Human Rights Department to be part of a team to implement America's very first MBE program.
Detroit's first black mayor, Coleman Young, tried back in the early 1970s, but the Supreme Court ruled against him.
Fast forward to 2001. The United States Supreme Court ruled the City of Detroit can have a MBE program.

Under a MBE program, if there are two or more MBE certified bidders on a government contract, the contract is closed to non MBE bidders.
The contract goes to the lowest bid by a MBE certified business.

Well now I know why a Liberal friend of mine has gone completely bananas over DOGE cuts. He works for one of the above Universities...BTW in a cushy feet-up-on-the-desk job which he proudly pointed out to me (~10 years ago) and laughed as I deal with my career in high stress corporate America.
Well when they figure out who are the ones doing nothing he'll be going even more psycho.

I look at most university jobs as a quasi-government job. Way too many administrators.
