Bangladesh Socio-Political Crisis 2024 and onwards

As long as no rules are broken - an open and articulate discussion should be welcomed bro and we can always counter the narrative

Thank you @Musings bhai

Just to clarfiy to other readers.

Bangladesh is a country of over 170 million people and there is a wide variety of opinions on many things just as in Pakistan.

In Pakistan you will have people that support PTI, PMN-L, the PPP and others and if a partisan PML-N mod were to seize control of a sub-forum and say his views are the "will of the Pakistani people" and everyone else is a traitor that would not be representative of the reality of Pakistan and would stifle the exchange of ideas.

No one here (and one moderator in particular actually does) can say that something " is the will of the Bangladeshi people", (when actually its his and his party's ideology) unless they ask all 170 million people in Bangladesh, and the only way to do something like that is an election.

As long as members are polite and not abusive they should be able to express political views divergent to that of the two moderators here.

Thank you so much bro!

As you said, as long as people are civil and aren’t spreading verifiable lies - all opinions must be welcomed.

If you cannot defend your opinions on the comfort of online - how are you going to manage it face to face?

This tendency to censor mixed with aggression - is what leads to the cycle of violence in South Asia.

We must breakout of that cycle.

If my emoji button wasn’t banned by the Bangladeshi moderators - I would give a massive thumbs up to you 😃

Thank you for your post to keep moderators accountable.

I will let @Al-Zakir Bhai explain what he meant by BAL narrative, but in his defense I think he meant BAL propaganda.

Here is one example of propaganda, by one of the members you tagged in your post, suggesting you two share the same political views. This individual claimed in a different thread that during July August revolution, outsiders killed people using 7.62 rounds, which is not used by Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies. By outsider he meant Jamaat Shibir activists did the killing to bring Hasina down and blame it on BAL. I explained to him twice and another member explained it once that his claim noting 7.62 ammo not used by Bangladeshi forces is false. Bangladeshi armed forces including branches of Police use 7.62mm as standard ammunition for Type 56 and BD 08 rifles. There are video evidence of law enforcement agency's troops firing these rifles targeting the crowd of protestors. Despite the explanation and availability of hard facts in the form of video evidence, the individual was persistent with his false narrative.

This is a textbook definition of how trolls operate. When presented with facts and truth, they continue to disregard the truth and maintain their false claims to muddy the water until the other party gives up. This is evident from the activities of Hasbara trolls, Sanghi Trolls, Russian and Chinese trolls. Keep repeating the lie until it sounds like the truth, as Goebbels said.

Now if us moderators take action and delete this individual's posts and issue points for trolling - we will be accused of being biased, partisan, power tripping and what not. Moderation is a thankless job, and we get that. These accusations are what we get for doing our job.

This is another example of if moderators take action they get blamed for being biased. One can complain, but won't accept any responsibility for abusing the emoji buttons to disrespect other members' point of view.

If anyone has any issues with moderator decisions, they can take it up to GHQ where Admins will review their concern in private. Not discuss in public. That is the forum rule.

@Musings since we are having a discussion on moderator actions, I will leave this up to you, because if I delete or edit the post, we will be labeled as being unfair.

@Musings @Al-Zakir

Now, I have no idea who uses what bullet types. It’s not something I am interested in.

But here, neither side have backed up their assertions with links to respectable sources.

Moderation is hard but it’s even harder when you insert yourself with emotive opinions!

And even harder when your start point is to “make a list of things not to discuss”!

Take a leaf out of how the other forums are moderated.

Btw, I have had many posts deleted and none of them have been factually incorrect. I pride myself in using sources such as the WB, IMF, Economist etc.

Whereas the alternate narrative is peddled with links to videos of a known troll and agitator called Pinaki.

Here is a classic example of your bias that I have raised with @Musings.

It’s ok for you and your buddies to tag laughing emojis at my posts.

But your feelings are hurt when I do the same!

All your posts were deleted for valid reasons. You can cite WB, IMF and still your post could end up as a troll post because of the quality, or the lack thereof of the rest of your post. Oh, and don't forget the abuse and disrespect towards other members. Getting data right isn't the only criteria of a good quality post.

Again, as was advised to you numerous times in the past, if you have objections with a post deletion, take it up to GHQ.

You are the one who started it and the rest reciprocated, even then not to the extent you had been disrespecting everyone else. Own up to your faults instead of throwing childish tantrums.
