I don't know what is to celebrate here...

Civilian population has been internally displaced, en masse, and enforced by the occupation.
City blocks worth of Civilian structures, homes, Masajid, Hospitals and bakeries have systematically destroyed.
As indicated, proposed and then enforced by its military a collective punishment has been meted out.
States that were pressed and contacted by both US and Israel to ethnically cleanse Gaza of it's population, such as Egypt... Have they made submissions officially to reflect not only the intent but to commit?

The states that have and continue to arm Israel against a ragtag militia with homemade munitions... Are they deterred?

On and on...
On ground situation doesn't reflect its sanitized output in ICJ... which is only for the consumption of those sitting on the hands or representing the weakest links.
Because here the belligerent and the perpetrator is itself The victim-in-chief!

Iran hails ICJ ruling against Israel genocide case in Gaza, urges urgent trial of regime officials

Friday, 26 January 2024 2:37 PM [ Last Update: Friday, 26 January 2024 2:37 PM ]

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian
Iran has hailed an interim ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on the emergency measures requested by South Africa in its genocide case against Israel over the regime's war on the Gaza Strip.
In a post on his X account on Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian extended his congratulations to the South African government and nation, particularly his counterpart Naledi Pandor, as well as the Palestinian people over the African country's success at the United Nations' top court.
He once again reiterated Iran's support for South Africa's initiative and called on his counterparts across the world to also throw their weight behind the African country's move at the ICJ.
"Today, the officials of the fake Israeli regime are the most hated people in the world's public opinion. They must be urgently brought to justice for committing genocide and unprecedented war crimes against the Palestinians," the top Iranian diplomat emphasized.
Amir-Abdollahian said the world public opinion would never forget the White House's full support for the Zionists' crimes against the Palestinians and would always heed the regime's criminal acts.
In its interim ruling, the ICJ ordered Israel to take all measures within its power to prevent genocide in Gaza, saying the regime must ensure its forces do not commit genocide and also ensure the preservation of evidence of alleged genocide.

It also urged the regime to report back in one month.
The court obliged Israel to take more measures to protect Palestinians but did not order it to end military operations in the Strip.
South Africa filed the lawsuit against Israel at the end of December, noting that Israel’s actions are “genocidal in character because they are intended to bring about the destruction of a substantial part of the Palestinian national, racial and ethnical group.”
The application also said Israeli attacks breach the UN’s Genocide Convention, and urged the court to “order Israel to cease killing and causing serious mental and bodily harm to Palestinian people in Gaza.”
In a telephone conversation with his South African counterpart Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi said South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the ICJ has drawn the admiration of all freedom seekers worldwide.
Israel launched hostilities in Gaza following a historic operation by the Gaza-based Hamas resistance group against the occupying entity in retaliation for its intensified atrocities against the Palestinian people.
More than 100 days into the campaign, the regime has achieved no objectives despite killing at least 26,083 people in Gaza, around 70 percent of them women and children.

Israel has one month to submit a report to the ICJ on all the steps it has taken.
They will just submit what they already submit on their defence and the tragedy continues. The issue is not what Israel is going to do next, the issue here is ICJ see what Israeli did and have no issue for them to not order Israel to stop.

I don't see why people think this is a win for South Africa case

Its a good step but falls short for me. I am disappointed that a genocide is being live streamed yet the wording is still too soft on aparthied Israel.

People quite often see only what they wish to see. What happens next remains to be seen IMO, and how any of it is changed or affected by this ruling.

This is not being soft or not soft for me, I believe if ICJ really believe there is a ground to put a stop to all these killing, they would. The implication is that ICJ don't think it has risen to that level yet. Otherwise a order of cease fire, whether or not they will comply, would be, and more importantly, SHOULD BE issued.

We are not talking about a court giving a comment here, we are talking about handing down a finding.

Well, I said my piece, I don't believe this is going to change the war, hope it would, but this finding is somewhat of a weak favour if you know what I mean.

The interim finding is supposed to deter the party and desist them from acting the way they were accused of doing; this does not look like deter and desist from me. Maybe to you it is, not for me

Ignored? How so? The verdict has ordered steps to avoid violations of the Genocide Convention to be taken, and did not order a cease-fire.
Whatever...they aren't going to avoid that. And that amounts to ignoring.

It is a meaningless ruling. It won't stop Israel from killing many more. Israel has already done what it wanted to do. An indiscriminate massacre.

The likes of Israel have figured out the world a long time ago. This so-called civilised world doesn't care one bit about genocides, massacres etc. as long as it doesn't affect them. This civilised world is more concerned about trade at the Red Sea.

Get it a few days for the ruling to filter through. It may not change Israels behaviour immediately, but it will change the behaviour of those who support, finance, provide weapons to Israel, aswell as provide them with political cover.

It seems all of those who took part in this genocide against Palestinian people in the West Bank and Gaza will be facing lawsuits in their own countries. Genocide Joe and his accomplices in his cabinet will meet the families of the victims in the US courts for years to come.
