If Trump is right and allies are interested this could be another nail in the coffin for F-35 exports, which are already going to suffer due to US Foriegn policy.

The Israelis, Aussies, Japanese and British (who will always buy American irrespective of Trump) will certainly be interested, even if some of them have home grown programes.

Anyway, looks like the future of air warfare now is pretty much just in Chinese and American hands.

It has sales exceeding 1 Trillion, has been in service for 15+ years. when 6th gen fighters start entring in 10 years the F35 would have ably served the gap between 4th and 6th. So it is success. Lol. No. The contracts are the contracts and you still have UAE, Saudi Arabia, India and Morrocco in ten years who will want the F-35. Only one or two nations will be able to afford the F-47. F-35 is the new F-16 when it comes to how many nations fly/will fly and the quantity of the F-35 will be second to the F-16.

Nope, even the USAF have said what will matter more is the conditions within which both jets fight each other (ranges, EW, AEW support, missiles etc)

In a stealth fighter showdown, the stealth fighter's radar is turned off. Whoever turns on the radar first has already exposed himself.

To detect and deal with stealth fighters, we rely on the early warning aircraft in the rear and the land anti-stealth radar.

Portugal was never considering the F-35 they spend 1.5% of their GDP on their military which is $4 billion.

They are all in for F-35 for obvious reasons.

Canada already signed the contract to buy F-35's backing down and they would suffer a severe financial penalty but also suffer thousands of jobs loss since they a partner nation of the F-35. The US would pull out all assembly/manufacturing F-35 components from Canada. UK was already cutting (temporarily) years before but still plan to buy the rest they selected since they are also partner nation. Many Euros are partner nations of the F-35 and canceling contracts because Orange man is a big meanie will only hurt themselves severely in so many ways.
