Pakistan Air Force | News & Discussions

First off let me clarify that i'm not a fan of most of these amateur News Channels/Vlogs. However, when I saw the title I was kinda intrigued.

The guys seems to have all the info relating to the Court Martial of Air Marshal (retd.) Jawad Saeed

First half of the video isn't of any interest, however, gets interesting in the second half.

I have Timestamped the video so you can watch it from there...

Mirage squadrons phase-out timeline:
2022: no. 15 Cobras - legacy mirage (common knowledge vis-vis J-10CE induction)
2023: no. 8 - legacy mirage (common knowledge vis-vis block-3 induction)
2024: CCS Skynots - Mirage Rose 1 (tweets from the more trusted accounts)
2025: no. 7 Bandits - Mirage Rose 1 (possible ? awaiting 2nd tranche of J-10s?)

So possibly the last of the mirages returning this year or next? Where does this leave the retirement process for the F-7PGs?

If you remember a white paper was issued against the current Air chief ... He is as far as I know in this situation because of this.

No, there will still be Mirages of 22 OCU, 25 and 27 left.

It's a whole mix of factors at play. Until a few years back, the consensus on PDF was that all F-7s will go before Mirages. It later changed to PGs will remain until legacy Mirages are all gone, but PGs will go before Rose Mirages, that may not be true now.

It all depends on:
a. How hard PAF is finding it to keep a certain type airworthy.
b. If the alternatives to its current mission-set is available.
c. How critical it is to maintain that mission-set.
d. How it all stands in front of developing threats.

Knowing that the last of legacy F-7s of early 90s were still airworthy until 2020 (or may be still are with the LIFT squadron), then it will only be a relatively mild challenge to keep the PGs airworthy until 2030. That of course does not mean they should be kept until then since they have been obsolete since at least 10 years now.

In the end I forsee, from the remaining 7 legacy squadrons - 4 mirage squadrons (7, 22, 25, 27) and 3 PG ones (17, 20, 23) - 2 each will be replaced by the block-3s and J-10CEs in the medium term (4 years to 2029). PAF will then do a reality check and decide if it wants the final 2/3 legacy squadrons to be replaced with these 4.5 gen or if for example, Indian development with ramjet AAMs etc is bearing fruits, then perhaps introduce 5th gen as early as 2030.

Suffice to say, I am not from that camp that thinks 5th gen is round the corner for PAF. I think those fanboys are just being childish.

23 Sqd not really a full frontline unit, we only have 2 full PG Sqds

Any news on the LIFT platforms PAF was looking for? Is the Shooter squadron still using old F-7P/FT-7?

PAF basically chose L-15 with afterburning engines. It's basically up to AHQ now to sign a deal or keep waiting it out.
In November it'll be exactly 02 Full Years since the last Dubai Air Show where the L-15 had spent time in Pakistan prior to its arrival in DxB - and later flew back to Pakistan for further Tests.

[I know this for a Fact]

Also..., I have got footage of (Senior) PAF Personnel going In & Out of the L-15's Static Display Chalet which was off-limits to most.

I was seated at a distance so I caught some good material.
