Indians and Chinese always argue who is the trouble maker on the border issue. Who is the expansionism. For me, it is definitely India. I would say the same even if I'm not Chinese.
Two years ago, there is a diplomatic conflict between India and Canada for Indian agents killing Sikh separatist in Canada. Indians accused Canada for accommodating Indian separatists. Indians hate Canada so much that an politician in congress suggested India should nuke Canada.
India and China’s friendship ended in 1959. Conflicts in border issues and diplomatic issues never ended since then. The 1962 war is just the result of all conflicts. What big events happened in 1959 in China and India? Two things. 1) Big famine(1959-1961) occurred in China. 2) Dalai Lama regime fled to India.
If offering accommodation to separatism activists deserves being nuked, what China should do to India for offering accommodation to armed rebels who have a government and an army? Indians say China backstabbed India because Nehru said “Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai”. From Chinese perspective, it is good words in front, bad actions in behind. India is more like double faced backstabber.
As I said. 1959-1961 was a very hard time for China. Not only in economy because of the big famine, but also in diplomacy. China and Soviet Union was close to breakup. China was almost isolated from both East and west. China actually needed support from India. However India stabbed China at China’s weakest time.
Similar scenario happened again in 2020. When China ,the whole country was in Covid lockdown, when US and EU yelled “decoupling China”, and when China needed support from used-to-be friendly India, in March 2020, Indian troops were spotted entering disputed areas with China(from Chinese news source). The world was confused why Chinese and Indians fought with sticks and stones. It is because one side who has much superior weapons is very tolerant to the other side. When did you see US army put their advanced weapons aside to fight a war like that?
Recently, it seems China and India relationship warms up. Why? Because India is the the one in trouble. US is going to punish India with tariff and other measures. Now India needs China’s support. China won’t trust Indians anymore. But at least China won't take advantage of India’s suffering
