(Updated at 18:29 - Effective time and details of the announcement by the Ministry of Finance of China) U.S. President Trump announced on the 2nd Eastern Time that reciprocal tariffs would be imposed on global trading partners. The tax rate in mainland China is 34%. The Beijing authorities declared that they would definitely retaliate. Reuters reported that China's Ministry of Finance said on Friday (4th) that it would impose an additional 34% tariff on all US goods starting April 10 in response to the reciprocal tariff measures implemented by the Trump administration.




The official website of the Ministry of Finance of China released the "Announcement of the Tariff Committee of the State Council on the Imposition of Additional Tariffs on Imports from the United States" in the evening of the 4th, stating that the US government announced on April 2, 2025 that it would impose "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese goods exported to the United States. The US practice is not in line with international trade rules, seriously undermines China's legitimate rights and interests, and is a typical "unilateral bullying" practice.


The announcement pointed out that in accordance with the Tariff Law of the People's Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China and other laws and regulations and basic principles of international law, with the approval of the State Council, China will impose additional tariffs on imported goods from the United States from 12:01 on April 10, 2025.


China's Ministry of Finance said that for all imported goods originating from the United States, a 34% tariff will be imposed on top of the current applicable tariff rate. The current bonded and tax reduction/exemption policies remain unchanged, and the additional tariffs will not be reduced or exempted. Goods that have been shipped from the place of departure before 12:01 on April 10, 2025, and imported between 12:01 on April 10, 2025 and 24:00 on May 13, 2025, will not be subject to the additional tariffs stipulated in this announcement.

China's Ministry of Commerce today (4th) issued an announcement by the Unreliable Entity List Working Mechanism to include 11 US companies including Skedio in the Unreliable Entity List.

To safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, in accordance with the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, the National Security Law of the People's Republic of China, the Anti-Foreign Sanctions Law of the People's Republic of China and other relevant laws, the Unreliable Entity List Working Mechanism has decided to include 11 entities including Skedio in the Unreliable Entity List in accordance with Article 2, Article 8 and Article 10 of the Unreliable Entity List Regulations, and to take the following measures:



1. The above-mentioned enterprises are prohibited from engaging in import and export activities related to China;

2. The above-mentioned enterprises are prohibited from making new investments in China.

Matters not covered in this announcement shall be implemented in accordance with the Provisions on the Unreliable Entity List.

After the United States announced the imposition of "reciprocal tariffs" on Chinese goods exported to the United States, multiple Chinese departments announced countermeasures today (4th), including five measures such as imposing a 34% tariff on all imported goods originating from the United States, including export controls on some medium and heavy rare earth services.
