China hits back at Canada with fresh agriculture tariffs

What Trump US doing or asking now is naked robbery. Even Americans call their gov demands insane.
they are a bunch of psycho.
but their blackmail, putting gun on table is not going to work on countries like Vietnam or China.
we don’t rely on US security guarantees.

Good, Vietnam agrees with China on this matter, hope Vietnam will be tougher in dealing with Trump tariffs. Just read that Trump is going to put tariff on Vietnamese certain kind steel between 40% to 88%. Like I said before, Trump will only stop bullying until you stop him, surrendering to him gets worse treatment in return.

Sorry my bad, I might have understood you wrong, but I am hoping for the best, maybe things might change but if not sooner or later I have to make that decision just like you did, I am hearing from many American born coworkers as they are planning to Leave US, not even brown people, white people. I knew 2 coworkers who are getting teaching certificates so they can move out.

Man, you and I have the conversations many time, I do think US is great place, amazing people, beautiful country and full of surprising places, but my thing is I don't like wars, nor I want a country that I call home to be part of bullying others or be part of Genocide, its not limited to US or Pakistan, no matter where I live or will live I will have that dilemma, I don't discard the good in any country for bad, nor bad for anything good. But Politically the way things are in US, I am confused that is it right place to raise a family ? what If my kids are bullied ? or my wife is harassed ? or even I get deported despite having legal residency ? before the whole Oct 7th shit show I was planning to buy a house, getting ready for future and now the Cheetos with legs in white house, and his croonies are running wild, literally destroying everything America build or stood for, now I understand lots of people support what Trump is doing and I will connect it with what you said, Right wingers will tear everything to the ground if it means that liberal left suffers too, same when Democrats wins they will repeat the same and so on.

Man If I have a choice to move to NZ I would, but I am not that lucky... for now I am holding tight here, but my family told me that no worries if things go bad to worse, remember I always have the option to leave, me living in US or getting blue passport is not worth more than my well being for my family, so that's good.
It's actually my bad, someone once told me I use negative annotation a lot, so instead of telling you to think whether this is suitable for you, I will say something along the line of "you need to rethink your future" which usually implied that your current future is not good (hence the negative annotation). Probably because of my military background? I don't have time to dance around issue and everything I said as is, and there is no holding bar on, direct and frank, which usually not someone like to hear outside the military.

I will say even I didn't think Trump will go this far, you are correct, even with legal permanent status, you are not safe and now Trump is acting like China, and monitor people speech and look thru their phone, I will suggest minimal contact with any federal employee if I were you. And I would definitely don't want to trade place with you right now.

I mean this is just first 2 months (We aren't even in 3 months of his presidency) and we already see chaos probably that can cover several different administrations. And never be more clearer and glader (If that is a word) that I choose to stay away from the US, be honest with you, I have to turn my back on a lot of stuff to make this move, and now I am more resolute in staying away, since I am not sure how bad this is going to be.

And lol about New Zealand, I met a lot of Kiwi here (again, they can live in Oz as part of Tran-Tasman agreement) and they have a sort of coolness that you don't see anywhere, they are just chill people and I like those life, maybe in 10 or 15 years I will retired to New Zealand? I don't know.

I like Panama. Think I prefer Costa Rica more. Couple people I know took up residence in Belize.
Belize is expensive as hell. I was there last year and cost of goods/services/food were just as expensive as US. Not sure how locals can afford anything. Only redeeming aspect of Belize is language, everyone speaks English since it was a British colony up until the early 80's.

Good to know. I've not been there yet. Only Costa Rica and Panama.

Vietnam envoy will meet face to face today with the Trump’s bloodhound in Washington.
200 Viet companies will participate in the negotiations.
we will see.
I think we are in a weak position.
much better if we have chinese backing.

Beyond 50% tariffs, , it makes no difference anymore as the two will completely decouple.

Ancient Chinese:

事出反常必有妖,人若反常必有刀,言不由衷定有鬼.
When events defy norms, demons lurk; when men act askew, daggers hide; when words ring hollow, ghosts abide.

Trump is a madman, but definitely not a fool. Let's take a look at his behavior in his second term:

Step 1. Appoint Elon Musk to build DOGE and make massive cuts to the US government system. ------We can see which US institutions are really hurt. Does it make the US government more efficient?
Obviously, his real purpose is not to make the US government more efficient. So, what is his purpose?
Step 2. On April 2, 2025, Trump declared a "national emergency" in the United States. According to US law, the president enjoys a lot of privileges and is not subject to other political institutions (such as the US Congress).
Step 3. Trump launched a tariff war. Please note that his target is not just China, the biggest imaginary enemy of the United States, but the whole world. He even completely rejected the opposition of Elon Musk, a core member of his team, causing Elon Musk to suffer huge losses.

When some countries came to him for mercy, he completely refused and further raised the conditions.

Now, there are many large-scale protests across the United States, and the American business and political circles are collectively protesting against his behavior. But he turned a blind eye to it.

So, what does he want to do? What is he hiding? This is a question worth pondering.
If we only use conventional logic to analyze it, obviously, we won't get any useful answers.

Since Trump launched the tariff war, China has made a lot of moves.
In addition to the "national team" that we all know about to maintain the stability of China's financial market, China has also made a series of moves in military and diplomatic fields. However, people's focus has been attracted by the stock market and have not been noticed.

China releases white paper on China-U.S. economic, trade relations

(Xinhua) 15:14, April 09, 2025
BEIJING, April 9 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council Information Office on Wednesday released a white paper titled "China's Position on Some Issues Concerning China-U.S. Economic and Trade Relations."

The Chinese government issued the document to clarify the facts about China-U.S. economic and trade relations, and elaborate the position of the Chinese side on relevant issues, according to the white paper.

The white paper came as rising unilateralism and protectionism in the United States have significantly impeded normal economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.

Since the beginning of trade friction in 2018, the U.S. side has imposed tariffs on Chinese exports worth more than 500 billion U.S. dollars, and has continuously implemented policies aimed at containing and suppressing China. Recently, the United States levied comprehensive additional tariffs on Chinese products, including tariffs citing the fentanyl issue as the pretext, "reciprocal tariffs," and an additional 50 percent on existing tariffs.

These measures -- revealing the isolationist and coercive nature of U.S. conduct -- run counter to the principles of the market economy and multilateralism, and will have serious repercussions for China-U.S. economic and trade relations, the white paper said.

In response to the U.S. moves, China has taken forceful countermeasures to defend its national interests, and has remained committed to resolving disputes through dialogue and consultation, with multiple rounds of consultations with the U.S. side to stabilize bilateral economic and trade relations, according to the document.

The Chinese side has always maintained that China-U.S. economic and trade relations are mutually beneficial and win-win in nature, the white paper said.

As two major countries at different stages of development with distinct economic systems, it is natural for China and the United States to have differences and frictions in their economic and trade cooperation. It is crucial to respect each other's core interests and major concerns, and find proper solutions to resolve the issues through dialogue and consultation, according to the document.

So, Musk is the only sane one regarding tariffs in Trump team.

The Washington Post: MAGA Maoism is spreading through the populist right

"Maoism". It is the English translation of the Chinese term "毛泽东思想 Mao Zedong Thought".
So, do MAGAs want to portray Trump as the second Mao Zedong?
LOL. This is such a crazy, magical world.
MAGA want to send libs to work in factories
libs want to send MAGA to work in factories

in Mao's word, “一群人对另一群人的专政”

they may have to fight a civil war to figure out this one, as the losing side will be sent to work in factories
😂

Are Trump and companies that delusional about Xi and China ? Yeah, Trump is a nice guy as the whole world knows.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian’s Regular Press Conference on April 8, 2025

NBC: With all of the threats and counter threats and measures being taken between the U.S. and China on tariffs, can you confirm are there any talks or negotiations happening at any level between the United States and China over trade?

Lin Jian: Judging from its actions, the U.S. doesn’t seem to be serious about having talks right now. If the U.S. truly wants to talk, it should let people see that they’re ready to treat others with equality, respect and mutual benefit. If the U.S. decides not to care about the interests of the U.S. itself, China and the rest of the world, and is determined to fight a tariff and trade war, China’s response will continue to the end.
