Yes, you can continue to cope. This trade war is never just about China mate. It is about getting everything back to the good ole USA. Next the white collars will push for all services and nice jobs to be back to USA. Then they will do the H1B ban again. My cousin had a 100% raise after the ban came in, and until today Indian companies will hire Americans for management role to reduce the tension.

Worth watching is a recent video by the 'China Uncensored' guy Chris Chappell in his other channel 'America Uncensored'. Per him, the widespread tariffs are to force other countries to reduce trading with China.

That's exactly the point. If jobs move to India, there's no need for H1Bs in the first place. The work comes here, not the workers going there. We're doing just fine, thanks for the concern.

Plenty of multinationals are already growing their teams here (GCC's) especially in tech and services. So even if the US pulls back on visas, the shift towards India-based roles isn’t slowing down.

I don't know much about trade/commerce/finance but my 'hunch' says that what Trump is doing right now might work after short to medium term pain; but then people in America are so spoiled that even very short term pain will be politically too much and thus Trump reverses a chunk of the tariffs (but still targetting China, because the goal is to isolate China). So I agree. This whole thing is about the US being the major market for most of the worlds consumer exports and the US getting the short end of it.

Also it seems the US hit southeast asia hard with tariffs just to stop them from being pass-thru countries.

Again the whole idea is to diversify production so the world is not making China their outsourcing center for manufacturing.

Not that outsourcing is 100% bad. Apple and nVidia have all this money for R&D because they don't have to play expense games retooling their own manufacturing centers...they unload this to the lowest bidder and concentrate on white-collar work.

Another thing to keep in mind: over 60% of world trade still cross-docks through the US. 60%.

Until that changes, we are a major player no matter what.

In all this, China seems to be the most rational and grounded actor. After this is done, shifting import-export policies might make China appear ahead.

What's your take on this? I feel the regional countries around China might try to integrate more. The South Koreans learned the hard way; they lost market share a decade ago and are trying to claw it back.

People talk about corporate exploitation in the West but plenty of companies in other countries are also making obscene profits while paying little to their workers. These suppliers can reduce their profits and fight to become competitive.

I am not talking about the 104% tariff but the other 10-40% range tariffs.
