As a copper's son, I had a vested interest in it. The books were better, though. My Mom was an avid reader - we never got to see anything else - and even held still for having her leg pulled about picking up tips on how to behave as a senior officer's wife. Of course, Gideon was Commander, IIRC, roughly equivalent to a Superintendent of Police in sub-continental terms, or a Deputy Commissioner in those selected big cities (formerly only the Presidency towns) that had Commissioners (combining police authority under the 1861 Act with executive magistracy, hence, IP, JP, not just IP), and my old man was Commissioner at that time.

BTW, my older grandson is now six compared to yours being 7. I can really imagine how happy and proud you must feel when you see him. Truly one of the greatest joys and blessings in life for any old man!
(Except maybe an old man who has tantrums over silly little things caused by raging hormones of a teenage girl, you know, as my genius colleagues here have reminded me.)

I'll go with the happy and proud. He's just got to the reading age, but his parents are paranoid about what he may read and may not. I have to step gingerly around their picket fences.

Its a fractal in the end.
Fractals have no beginning or end....but I like to offer a smorgasbord from time to time to act as launchpad with folks around me in some place....to see where that might take us in understanding the underlying reality (fractals and all).
Music I have found is one of the best conduits in this....since it clearly appeals to something very deep inside us since the dawn of mankind.
A means to an end...to filter out the BS, and separate chaff from wheat easily and deeply on who "gets it" and can then get somewhere better collectively.
Other times an end in of itself.
